Since 1973, the Hong Kong Arts Festival has presented a broad range of cultural delights from classical opera to cutting-edge theatre. Last year there were more than 1,500 artists starring in 140 performances, and another 200 fringe shows. The not-for-profit event also runs programmes to promote interest in the arts among youth.

Fifteen parks and playgrounds all over Hong Kong play host to flower markets, where locals search for the perfect auspicious bloom to adorn their home or office. A visit to one is a real treat for the senses and a good excuse to get some fresh air. Participating green spaces include Victoria Park in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong Island and Fa Hui Park in Mong Kok, Kowloon.
