New Delhi, India’s capital, is a city of living history. Right in the midst of concrete skyscrapers lie the ruins of ancient monuments. Delhi, or Dilli as it is referred to locally, has a history dating back at least 2,500 years. It is said that this modern city was built upon the remains of no less than eight cities from various centuries and dynasties.

Delhi is one of India’s greenest hubs, a fact borne out by the dozens of parks and gardens in every neighbourhood of the city. In many ways, it is also the cultural capital of India and hosts concerts, exhibitions and literary events through the year. It has some of the best street food in the country, and residents are known to be intrepid in their quest for the best chaat (spicy snacks) and kebab.
