CHECK-IN ON THE GO WITH “SIA MOBILE”

Checking in for a flight should be simple and convenient. I am pleased that “SIA Mobile” will now meet this need of our customers."

Singapore Airlines Senior Vice President Products & Services Mr Yap Kim Wah

7 April 2009 - Customers travelling on any Singapore Airlines flight now have the added convenience of checking in for their flights anywhere in the world using their Singapore-registered mobile phones[1], with the Airline’s latest technological introduction, “SIA Mobile”.

Customers can also check in for connecting flights operated by any of the airlines which Singapore Airlines has check-in agreements with, if the connection is from a Singapore Airlines operated flight.

Through the mobile check-in facility, customers are able to select their seats on Singapore Airlines operated flights, as they would do on the Internet.

The mobile check-in facility is made possible by the Airline’s new “SIA Mobile” application software, designed to provide customers the flexibility of accessing selected Singapore Airlines online services on their mobile handsets. “SIA Mobile” will also be enhanced later this year to include features such as booking of tickets and accessing of selected KrisFlyer services.

To perform mobile check-in and seat selection, all customers would need to do is to key in “m.singaporeair.com” into the web browser of their mobile handsets[2]. They will then be given the option of either downloading the “SIA Mobile” application software onto their handsets or accessing the check-in services directly through their mobile handset’s web browser.

To lead customers through each step of the downloading and check-in process, easy-to-follow instructions have been made available in a specially created link on the Airline’s website i.e. singaporeair.com/mobile.

The “SIA Mobile” Check-In feature is available on all sectors of Singapore Airlines flights. Customers may check in for their confirmed flights using their mobile handsets anytime between 2 and 48 hours before departure.

Said Senior Vice-President Product & Services, Mr Yap Kim Wah, “Checking in for a flight should be simple and convenient. I am pleased that “SIA Mobile” will now meet this need of our customers."

[1] This applies to prepaid and post-paid SIM cards issued by SingTel, M1 and StarHub only. Roaming charges apply as usual for check-in transactions made out of Singapore. The mobile check-in facility supports phone models by most major mobile phone providers, including Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and Motorola as well as selected BlackBerry and PDA models. The mobile devices need to be Internet-enabled. For the full list of models supported, visit singaporeair.com.

2 Prevailing GPRS data charges apply and as data charges vary across service providers and service plans, customers are advised to check the details with their own service providers. Estimated data charges for the one-time download of the SIA Mobile software is S$2.20.
