Allowances

Knowing your free baggage allowance can make a difference to your journey and ensure safety and comfort. As you will not have access to your checked baggage during flight, we advise that you carry your medication, travel documents and valuables in your carry-on baggage. For easy identification, do also label your checked baggage with full contact information.

Baggage Weight Limitations

In accordance with the local occupational safety rules, passengers travelling to and from Australia, Brunei, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates and United Kingdom, should note that your checked baggage cannot exceed 32 kg per piece. This baggage weight limitation of 32kg is an issue relating to Occupational Health Safety and is not your baggage allowance. Any excess baggage above your allowance is chargeable.

Passengers are required to re-pack their baggage if the baggage weight exceeds the above-stipulated limitation per piece. Heavy machinery or spare parts that exceeds the indicated weight above would not be uplifted baggage to and from these countries.

Ladies' handbag Overcoat Umbrella
Walking stick Laptop / Notebook PC Small camera

Cabin Baggage Checks

Adherence to the hand-carry baggage allowance will facilitate security checks at the airport as well as minimise the likelihood of injuries caused by luggage falling from overhead compartments due to excess stowage. It will also help ensure the aircraft cabin remains clutter-free, for easier movement by fellow passengers and the crew.

Checks will be carried out on our flights at check-in and prior to boarding. Cabin baggage may be charged excess baggage if it has to be checked-in and the total weight of the check-in bags exceeds the passenger’s allowance. Hand-carry items that exceed the allowed limits will be collected and stored in the aircraft cargo compartment, which could result in unnecessary personal inconvenience.

Singapore Airlines retain the sole discretion to determine, for purposes of your safety or the safety and comfort of other passengers, whether any item of your baggage will be permitted in the cabin or carried as checked baggage.
