What is SMS Check-in?
Singapore Airlines is pleased to introduce SMS check-in, a convenient way to check in for your flights. PPS Club members and KrisFlyer members who are travelling from selected cities may check in for a flight from 48 hours before departure. SMS check-in is available for all ticket types.

What are the earliest and latest times for checking in via SMS?
SMS check-in is available from 48 hours up to 2 hours prior to flight departure.

Who can use SMS check-in?
SMS check-in is available to:
  • PPS Club members
  • KrisFlyer members

All abovementioned customers will need to have a "My Booking Alerts" profile on the Singapore Airlines' website to use SMS check-in. You can access this profile by navigating to "My Booking Alerts" Profile after login. 



Can I use SMS check-in for codeshare flights?
Singapore Airlines has different codeshare arrangements with various airlines. In some cases, Singapore Airlines operates the codeshare flight and in other cases Singapore Airlines markets the codeshare flights operated by another airline. SMS check-in can be initiated for codeshare flights operated by Singapore Airlines. It is also possible to check in for selected connecting codeshare flights marketed by Singapore Airlines, provided there is a preceding Singapore Airlines-operated flight.

Can I use SMS check-in for connecting flights operated by other airlines?
Yes, it is possible to check in for connecting flights operated by selected airlines provided there is a preceding Singapore Airlines flight and a through check-in arrangement between Singapore Airlines and the other airline.

How many flights will I be able to check in via SMS?
You will be able to check in on all flights in your booking that are open for check-in.

Why can't I check in from all airports?
We are constantly adding to the list of airports offering SMS check-in - ultimately offering the service throughout the Singapore Airlines network. SMS check-in is currently available for all Singapore Airlines with the exception of flights departing from Colombo.  The service is unavailable for mobile phone subscribers in Canada, Japan, Korea and USA.

Is SMS check-in available for all Singapore Airlines flights?
SMS check-in is available for all Singapore Airlines flights with the exception of flights departing from Colombo.  The service is unavailable for mobile phone subscribers in Canada, Japan, Korea and USA.  SMS check-in can be initiated for codeshare flights operated by Singapore Airlines. It is also possible to check in for selected connecting codeshare flights marketed by Singapore Airlines provided there is preceding Singapore Airlines operated flight.

Can I do SMS check-in for my travelling companions as well?
No, you can currently only check in for yourself even though your travelling companions may be included in the same booking record as yours. Please note that if you are checking in, you will need to have updated passport details in the particulars of your registered profile to complete the check-in transaction.

Why do I need to have my passport information in my registered profile?
Immigration and Customs Authorities use this data to ensure the relevant checks are made before you arrive. If the information you have entered is incorrect then it may mean severe delays for you upon flight arrival.

Can I use SMS check-In if I have baggage to check in as well?
Yes, simply check in your baggage when collecting your boarding pass at the airport. Please ensure that you provide sufficient time for this. Please note the times vary according to the station.

Why am I unable to check in via SMS even though I enter the reply the correct SMS message?
The following are some likely reasons:
  • You do not have a confirmed booking. Please confirm your booking.
  • You may have multiple bookings in our reservations system. Please contact your nearest SIA reservations office or your travel agent to confirm your intended booking and cancel your duplicate bookings.
  • Our system could be experiencing some difficulties. We encourage you to proceed to the airport to complete your check-in procedures.


Which type of tickets can be used for SMS check-in?
SMS check-in is compatible with all ticket types including traditional paper tickets, ATBs, and E-Tickets. An E-Ticket is an electronic ticketing system that stores all ticket details in our database.

Can I change my seat with SMS check-in?
No, you are not able to change seats with SMS check-in. In the event you would like to change your assigned seat after you have completed a SMS check-in, please contact any Singapore Airlines reservations office or our service counter at the airport. Information on our worldwide offices may be found here. Alternatively, you can consider conducting an Internet check-in on www.singaporeair.com instead of a SMS check-in.

Can I cancel my flight after checking in via SMS?
Cancellation can be done by contacting any Singapore Airlines reservations office or our service counter at the airport. Information on our worldwide offices may be found here.

Can I change my flight after checking in?
To make changes to your flight after checking in, please contact any Singapore Airlines reservations office or our service counter at the airport.

What information does the confirmation SMS contain?
The confirmation SMS contains the following information:
  • Your itinerary displaying all the details of your flights (numbers, departure times, 3-letter origin-destination pair) on which you have been successfully checked in.
  • Your seat numbers for the flights on which you have been checked in.
  • Where to pick up your boarding pass.
  • Whether all segments have been successfully checked in.


Where do I collect my boarding pass after SMS check-in?
You must collect your boarding pass at the airport.
If you are departing from Singapore, please proceed to any off-airport check-in counter on Row 9, Terminal 2 or Row 4, Terminal 3 to collect your boarding pass.
If you are departing from any other city that offers SMS check-in, please proceed to any check-in counter to collect your boarding pass.
Please approach any Singapore Airlines staff at the airport should you have any queries.

What are the earliest and latest times for collecting my boarding pass?
Please collect your boarding pass from 3 hours up to 60 minutes prior to departure. If you do not pick up your boarding pass at least 60 minutes prior to departure, you may be off-loaded from the flight. Please save yourself unnecessary hassle by collecting your boarding pass on time. Due to enhanced security screening, SMS checked-in passengers travelling to North America and from India or New Zealand are required to pick their boarding passes at least 60 minutes prior to departure. Due to airport reasons, SMS checked-in passengers travelling from Bangladesh are required to pick their boarding passes at least 75 minutes prior to departure.

When am I considered to have checked in?
Once you have received the check-in confirmation SMS, you have been checked-in on our system.

What are check-in notification alerts?
Check-in notification alerts will be sent to you at your preferred time of either 48 hours or 24 hours prior to flight departure. You will be able to check in via SMS or Internet at www.singaporeair.com for your flight upon receiving the alert.

With the exception of flights departing from Colombo, you will be able to reply to the SMS check-in notification alert and check-in via SMS. The service is unavailable for mobile phone subscribers in Canada, Japan, Korea and USA.

If your flight departs from other Singapore Airlines-served city, you will receive an alert informing you to check in via the Internet at the Singapore Airlines' website.

What are check-in confirmation alerts?
Check-in confirmation alerts will be sent to you via SMS upon successful completion of SMS check-in. In addition to SMS check-in confirmation alert, you will receive an email confirmation with more information regarding collecting your boarding pass and checking in your bags.

What information does the SMS check-in confirmation alert contain?
The SMS check-in confirmation alert contains the following information:
  • Your itinerary displaying all the details of your flights (numbers, departure times, and three-letter origin-destination pair) on which you have been successfully checked-in.
  • Your seat numbers for the flights on which you have been checked in.
  • Where to pick up your boarding pass.
  • Whether all segments have been successfully check-in.

Please note that if you have several connecting flights that the SMS check-in confirmation alert may be sent in more than one message. 



Will I be charged for sending a reply to the check-in notification alert?
Singapore Airlines will not charge you for the use of this service. However, your mobile service provider may impose charges to you for the transmission and receipt of SMS. Please contact your mobile service provider for details of charges.

Why did I not receive any check-in notification alerts?
The following are some likely reasons:
  • You might have forgotten to subscribe for a flight alerts profile.
  • You might have forgotten to indicate that you would like to receive check-in notification/confirmation alerts.
  • Your mobile number or email address is invalid.
  • You might have forgotten to provide, or your travel agent has not entered, your PPS Club or KrisFlyer membership number when you made your reservation. Please contact your nearest SIA reservations office or your travel agent to add your PPS Club and KrisFlyer membership number in your booking and proceed to do an Internet check-in at the Singapore Airlines' website. Alternatively, you may proceed directly to the airport to complete your check-in procedures.
  • You might have multiple bookings in our reservations system. Please contact your nearest SIA reservations office or your travel agent to confirm your intended booking and cancel your duplicate bookings.
  • You made your itinerary changes within 48 hours of flight departure.
  • You made some changes in your "My Flight Alerts" profile within 48 hours of flight departure.
  • In your reservation, you requested to travel as an unaccompanied minor or young person travelling alone, or you have indicated certain medical needs. Due to the special servicing you require, please proceed directly to the airport to check in.
  • There are occasional instances whereby last-minute changes to our flights have to be made. Hence you will receive the check-in notification slightly later. Please wait for a while or check in at the airport.
  • You are not using a GSM provider.


Why are there overseas SMS charges when I use SMS check-in?
The SMS number that you will be replying to will potentially be a regional number. Your mobile service provider will charge you an overseas SMS rate for replying to the SMS check-in notification alerts.

Which mobile services providers support SMS check-in?
SMS check-in is currently supported by the following operators:
