Our undergraduate scholarship scheme was started in 1977, with the objective of identifying and recruiting talent for management positions within the Singapore Airlines Group.
To achieve our goal, we are looking for individuals with strong academic and analytical ability, outstanding co-curricular achievements, good communication skills and leadership potential.
The scholarships are tenable at NUS, NTU, SMU and top universities overseas.
The awards cover the entire undergraduate course of study including, if applicable, the Honours programme.
For local awards, we pay all tuition and hostel fees, a one-off computer allowance, annual book allowance, and provide a maintenance allowance for each year of studies. Scholars are also allowed a free trip annually on SIA’s services.
For overseas awards, we pay all tuition and other compulsory fees, monthly maintenance allowance, one-off clothing and computer allowances, annual book allowance, one-off settling-in allowance, air passage at beginning and end of course plus an annual trip on SIA’s services. In addition, SIA will reimburse fees for university applications and entrance tests.
We have awarded between 4 and 12 scholarships annually. The number varies in accordance with the quality of candidates.
The Singapore Airlines Scholarships are open to Singapore citizens and Singapore permanent residents.
We invite applications from outstanding students who will be enrolling for full-time undergraduate studies. Current undergraduates who have excelled in their present course of study may also apply.
The requirements are:
- Strong academic record in Secondary School and Junior College/International Baccalaureate (IB)/Polytechnic
- Strong leadership qualities as demonstrated in CCAs and National Service (if applicable).
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to sit for a set of written tests and attend interviews.
Successful candidates will be offered the scholarship by middle of May.
Upon completion of their studies, local and overseas scholars are required to serve a bond of 4 years.
On completion of their studies, our scholars are deployed on various career tracks, depending on our manpower needs.
For those interested in the Engineering field, a career in our technical divisions awaits you. This scheme provides opportunities for candidates to build up mastery and professional expertise in aeronautical engineering. There will be prospects for development and job rotation within the Engineering division
Others will be given general management roles. They will be involved in analysing, planning, reviewing, and implementing policies, as well as working with teams on business projects. This will help them become airline professionals. Scholars can look forward to opportunities for overseas duty travel and job rotation. Those with the aptitude can join the scheme for eventual posting overseas as SIA’s general managers.
