From 20 March 2008, Singapore Airlines will fly to Houston via Moscow, four times a week.

Singapore Airlines will commence a four-times-weekly service to Houston – the fourth largest city in America and economic centre of the southern state of Texas – on 20 March 2008.

The one-stop Boeing 777-300ER service will fly via Moscow, providing the only direct air link between the Russian capital and Houston.

The aircraft will feature a three-class configuration, including the new long-haul premium cabin products unveiled on October 2006. They are the new and more exclusive First Class; the award-winning Business Class (the most spacious in the world with a 1-2-1 configuration with every seat having direct access to the aisle); and the Economy Class, with all seats featuring increased width, improved personal space and larger personal KrisWorld TV screens with over 1000 entertainment options.

With the introduction of Houston as Singapore Airline’s fifth passenger gateway in the USA, Singapore Airlines will fly over 50 passenger flights a week between Singapore and the USA.

Flights will leave Singapore every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday morning, and return from Houston later the same evening.

About Houston

Houston is the city centre of a commercial region and home to around 5.5 million people.  Its industries include oil and gas, aeronautical and space, medical research and healthcare, technology, manufacturing and shipping. The region also includes America’s largest shipping port by international tonnage.

Its climate is subtropical, with mild winters. Its summers are warm and humid, which is very much like Singapore and the city’s claim is similar to Singapore’s – everything is air-conditioned.

Among its key attractions are the Lyndon B Johnson Space Centre, which features exhibits of lunar materials and the space shuttle programme; and NASA’s Mission Control Centre, from which all its space operations are controlled.

The city’s arts and culture facilities are extensive and vibrant, which build on the international population: Hispanic, Mexican, Chinese, Vietnamese and Pacific Islander.
