Unaccompanied Minors (UM)
 An Unaccompanied Minor (UM)  is between 5 and under 17 years old. Children under the age of 5 years will not be accepted to travel alone.

UM will not be accepted for:

  •  journeys including a transfer time exceeding 24 hours
  •  journeys including a change of airport within one city

Fare

  • fare ex switzerland: the youth fare (age 12-25 years) is applicable. where no youth fare is offered, use adult fare
  • fare origin outside switzerland: the adult fare is applicable

Surcharge

There is no extra charge for UM service, however if the transit time in Singapore exceeds 6 hours, the reservations at a hotel with aunty service is mandatory (rate approximately CHF150.- / payment by MPD/MCO).  Please contact zrh_reservations@singaporeair.com.sg for details.

Reservation

The following details of the UM must be sent by email (including the relevant PNR) at least 3 days before departure to zrh_reservations@singaporeair.com.sg

  • PNR
  • full given- and family name
  • date of birth
  • telephone number of parents (including country code) at origin or destination
  • telephone number of guardian (including country code) at origin or destination
  • language spoken
  • (optional) if restricted viewing is requested (movies rated "R" will not be accessible on the inflight entertainment system)
  • (optional) if UM

Meet and Assist Passengers (MAAS)
Passengers eligible for meet and assist service:
  • Invalids / Passengers with reduced mobility (physically/mentally)
  • Unaccompanied Minors (UM)
  • Medical Cases (MEDA)
  • Wheelchair Cases
  • Elderly Passengers
  • Non-English speaking Passengers
  • Passengers travelling with infants/very young children
  • Expectant Mothers
  • Mothers of new born babys (Babys under the age of 7 days will not be accepted for travel)

Please note: Meet and Assist service can not be guaranteed and are on a request basis. (except for unaccompanied minors [UM], medical and wheelchair cases)

Request including PNR and reason for meet and assist service can be send at least 3 days before departure to zrh_reservations@singaporeair.com.sg



Wheelchair
Type of Wheelchair Service
  • WCHC* - Cabin Seat -
    Passenger is completely immobile. Requires wheelchair to/from aircraft and must be carried up/down steps and to/from cabin seat. Please indicate if the passenger is independent (can feed himself) or dependent (cannot feed himself)
  • WCHR - Ramp -
    Passenger can ascend/descend steps and make own way to/from cabin seat, but requires wheelchair for distance to/from aircraft.
  • WCHS - Steps -
    Passenger cannot ascend/descend steps, but is able to make own way to/from cabin seat, requires wheelchair for distance to/from aircraft and must be carried up/down steps.
  • WCOB - On Board -
    Onboard wheelchair is available on all Boeing 777 and Boeing 747 aircraft to allow passengers to move along the aircraft aisles.
  • WCBD - Dry Cell -
    The wheelchairs must comply with IATA safety regulations. There is no charge for transportation.
  • WCBW - Wet Cell -
    Such wheelchairs can be accepted if the battery is drained and properly packed.

* Passengers required WCHS service bound for Amritsar (ATQ) cannot be accepted due to non-availability of aerobridge and armlift facility.

Reservation
Requests including PNR and should be sent at least 3 days before departure to zrh_reservations@singaporeair.com.sg. Kindly provide following data:

  • PNR
  • Type of assistance (code of wheelchair needed)
  • Passenger is accompanied or travelling alone
  • If passenger uses own wheelchair and if dry or wet batteries. Please provide weight of wheelchair.

Please note: Passengers who require the assistance of wheelchair cannot be allocated on upper deck (Boeing 747-400 [744] aircraft) or emergency exit seats.

Rate
There is no charge for Wheelchair Cases



Expectant Mothers
For uncomplicated single pregnancies, Singapore Airlines restricts expectant mothers from travelling beyond the 35th week of pregnancy. For uncomplicated multiple pregnancies, SIA restricts expectant mothers from travelling beyond the 32nd week of pregnancy.

At any stage of pregnancy passenger should hold a certificate of fitness for air travel from the attending gynaecologist. The passenger is responsible for consulting her doctor before undertaking any flight. The number of weeks she is pregnant at the time he signs the certificate of her fitness for air travel must be clearly stated in the certificate. The estimated date of delivery should also be indicated in the medical certificate. The medical certificate should be presented at check-in if requested.

Please note: Expectant ladies who are 20 weeks or more pregnant AND intend to deliver in Singapore are required to obtain a Social Visit Pass for entry into Singapore. The application can be submitted through a local sponsor to Immigrations & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) of Singapore. Domestic Pets
Important notes
  • Only dogs and cats above 6 months old will be accepted as checked baggage. Pets in passenger cabin are not allowed.

  • Transportation of pets, as animal in hold, will not be accepted on all flights operated by SilkAir (MI) as well as all flights to/from Australia/New Zealand. For more information, please consult your "Timatic" option in your CRS. Request of transport of live animals and pets to these destinations should be sent to following Cargo Company, which is a specialist of animal transport:

  • Passengers transiting Singapore are not permitted to feed their dog/cat at SIN Airport.

Documentation
Passenger must provide following for pet transportation:

  • Valid health and rabies vaccination certificate
  • Entry permits required by government of countries of entry and/or transit
  • Passenger Receipt of MPD/MCO for transit/transshipment fee of SGD50.00 (or converted in CHF)

Transport

  • Passenger must supply a suitable leak proof container, which is in compliance with the IATA Live Animals Regulations.

Rate

  • Transport of cage: normal excess baggage rate applies. Refer to your CRS for applicable rate. (e.g. Zurich to Singapore, one way per Kilo CHF81.00 (correct as at 27 february 2007). Excess baggage charge has to be paid at the check-in counter.
  • Transit in Singapore (Transshipment fee of SGD50.00 has to be collected in advance by issuance of a MPD/MCO. The MPD/MCO has to be sent to Singapore Airlines Ltd, Reservations Department, Schützengasse 23, 8023 Zürich)

Reservation
Please contact Singapore Airlines Zurich at least 2 weeks in advance for reservation, providing following details:

  • Type of pet: e.g. dog/breed/female
  • Colour, age and weight of pet: e.g. black / 01 year / 3kg
  • Container size and weight:: e.g. 35x35x40cm / 18kg


Stretcher / Oxygen Cases / Other medical Cases / Transport of weapons of sportive nature
