History
Inaugurated in 2000 together with the official opening of the Singapore Racecourse in Kranji, the Singapore Airlines International Cup attracts the crème de la crème of the world’s top racing nations to race in Singapore.

The stage is set for more world-class racing action at Kranji as the Singapore Turf Club stages one of the richest sprint events in the world — the KrisFlyer International Sprint — on the same evening as the Singapore Airlines International Cup, adding even more buzz to what is already Singapore’s biggest and richest raceday of the year.

During the most recent Singapore Airlines International Cup on 18 May 2008, top horses from five countries – England, France, Japan, New Zealand, and South Africa – took on eight of Singapore’s best. Jay Peg emerged as a clear winner for this race.

As for the KrisFlyer Sprint, horses from four countries – Australia, England, Hong Kong and United Arab Emirates – competed with eight of Singapore’s horses.  Australia’s Takeover Target put up an excellent performance and won the $1 million KrisFlyer International Sprint.
