History
Inaugurated in 2000, the Singapore Airlines International Cup attracts the world’s top racing nations and the must-see highlight of the Singapore International Racing Festival  (www.turfclub.com.sg).

Highlights of the Singapore Airlines International Cup 2009
This 9th Singapore Airlines International Cup returned this year on 17 May 2009 to the anticipation and excitement of local and overseas racing fans alike. The highlight races of the day – the Singapore Airlines International Cup and KrisFlyer International Sprint, included a star-studded line-up of champion thoroughbreds that brought the audience to their feet.

The Singapore Airlines International Cup 2009 featured 12 top horses from five countries – Australia, France, Japan, South Africa, UAE and the United Kingdom, competing against four of Singapore’s best horses. France’s Gloria De Campeao emerged victorious in this race, ceasing the lead at the halfway mark in a truly spectacular performance unrivalled by other opponents.

The KrisFlyer International Sprint 2009 featured horses from five countries – Australia, England, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates and South Africa– battle it out with six of Singapore’s best horses.  Hong Kong’s Sacred Kingdom took the coveted first place in a close race that brought even more excitement to this grand event.

Leading up to the race day event will be the region's biggest racing extravaganza, the Singapore International Racing Festival. This fun-filled racing festival organised by the Singapore Turf Club will feature a range of interesting equine-themed activities that promises to be fun for the whole family.
