Best time to visit Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka has a tropical climate with regional variation, influenced by two monsoon patterns. The period from December to March is generally the peak season for the west and south coasts, with daytime temperatures around 27°C to 30°C (81°F to 86°F) and lower humidity along the beaches. April to early June and September to November form shoulder season periods, when showers are more frequent but you can still enjoy travel across much of the island, with average temperatures near 26°C to 29°C (79°F to 84°F). From May to September, the south-west monsoon brings heavier rains to the south and west while the east and north are drier, making it a low season for some regions but a favourable time for the eastern coast, with temperatures often 28°C to 32°C (82°F to 90°F).
