Beverage Service
Throughout your journey, a selection of hot and cold drinks is available, including juices, soft drinks, tea, and coffee. Our signature Singapore Sling is also served on board, so you can enjoy a classic taste of Singapore in the air. Please note that no meal service is provided for Economy Class passengers on the Singapore–Penang segment due to the short flight time.

For flights between Surabaya and Penang, our weight concept applies. In Economy Class, the checked baggage allowance is 25kg for Lite and Value fares, and 30kg for Standard and Flexi fares. In Business Class, the checked baggage allowance is 40kg. Each checked bag must not exceed 32kg.

For cabin baggage, Economy Class customers may bring 1 piece up to 7kg. Business Class customers may bring 2 pieces, each up to 7kg. The final baggage allowance for your journey will be shown on your e-ticket, and KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members enjoy additional allowances.

Wi-Fi is available on most Singapore Airlines flights from Surabaya to Penang once the aircraft is above 10,000 feet. It is free and unlimited for KrisFlyer members, and Economy Class and Premium Economy Class members should add their membership number to the booking at least 1.5 hours before departure.

Non-members can purchase access plans on board. The connection is suitable for messaging, email, and basic browsing, but it does not support video streaming, video calls, or large file transfers.

Eligible customers may be able to access facilities such as the SilverKris Lounge (First Class), SilverKris Lounge (Business Class), or the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge, depending on cabin class and membership status.

Cabin Class: Complimentary for Suites, First, and Business Class passengers. Premium Economy and Economy travellers do not have access unless they hold eligible status.

Frequent Flyer Status: PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Gold (or Star Alliance Gold) members have access regardless of cabin class.

The 'Next Segment' Rule: Eligibility is based on the flight immediately departing that airport. For example, if you fly Economy from Surabaya but have a Business Class onward flight from Singapore, you get lounge access in Singapore only.

Singapore Changi Airport offers a wide range of facilities that make layovers comfortable and engaging. With a longer connection, you can join an official transit tour into the city, which usually requires a minimum layover of around 5.5 to 6 hours to allow for immigration and tour time.

If you prefer to stay airside, you can explore themed gardens, quiet rest areas, and entertainment zones across the terminals. Families will find play areas and activity zones, while travellers needing rest can consider airport hotels or nap spaces.

For shorter layovers, simply enjoy a leisurely walk, freshen up, and sample food and shopping close to your departure gate. Your time at Singapore Changi Airport is more than just a wait — it is an integral part of your journey.

Surabaya follows Western Indonesia Time (UTC+7), while Penang follows Malaysia Time (UTC+8). This means Penang is 1 hour ahead of Surabaya throughout the year, as neither location observes daylight saving time.

Through-Check Conditions
For your bags to be sent directly to your final destination, the following general conditions must be met:

Single Itinerary: Both flight segments (Surabaya–Singapore and Singapore–Penang) must be under the same booking reference or PNR.

Layover Duration: Your connection in Singapore must be less than 24 hours. If your layover exceeds 24 hours, it is considered a stopover, and you will typically be required to collect your luggage and re-check it for your onward flight.

Partner Airlines: If your onward flight from Singapore to Penang is operated by a partner airline, Singapore Airlines has through-check agreements that usually allow your bags to be tagged to your final destination.
