Best time to visit Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka has a tropical climate with regional monsoon patterns. From December to March (peak season), the west and south coasts and much of the hill country are typically dry and sunny, with coastal temperatures around 27–30°C (81–86°F). April and May, and again September to early November (shoulder season), bring warmer temperatures of around 28–32°C (82–90°F) and short, often intense showers, which can be a good time for fewer crowds in many areas. From June to August (low season) the south-west monsoon brings heavier rain and rougher seas to the west and south, with temperatures still around 27–29°C (81–84°F), while the east and north are usually drier.
