Beverage Service
Throughout your journey, you can enjoy a range of hot and cold drinks, including juices, soft drinks, teas, coffees, and selected alcoholic beverages. Our signature Singapore Sling is also available on board for you to savour as part of your flight experience. Please note that no meal service is provided for Economy Class passengers on the Singapore–Penang segment due to the short flight time.

For flights between Taipei and Penang, the weight concept applies. For checked baggage, Economy Class customers have an allowance of 25kg on Lite and Value fares, and 30kg on Standard and Flexi fares. Business Class customers can check up to 40kg. Each checked bag must not exceed 32kg.

For cabin baggage, Economy Class customers may bring one piece up to 7kg. Business Class customers may bring two pieces, each up to 7kg. The final allowance for your trip is shown on your e-ticket, and KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members enjoy additional allowances.

Wi-Fi is available on Singapore Airlines flights from Taipei to Penang once the aircraft is above 10,000 feet. It is free and unlimited for KrisFlyer members; Economy Class and Business Class customers should add their membership number to the booking at least 1.5 hours before departure to enjoy this. Paid plans are available for non-members.

The connection is suitable for messaging, email, and basic browsing. It does not support video streaming, video calls, or large file transfers, so we recommend finishing any heavy downloads before you fly.

On this route, both the Taipei to Singapore and Singapore to Penang sectors offer Economy Class with a seat pitch of about 32 inches and up to 19 inches of seat width, giving you comfortable legroom and space for regional and medium-haul flights.

Yes, Singapore Airlines provides lounge access to eligible passengers with a layover in Singapore. Your eligibility is based on your class of travel or your KrisFlyer and Star Alliance status, and it is determined by your flight leaving Singapore. Other options, like purchasing a day pass at a pay-per-use lounge, are also available.

Singapore Changi Airport offers a wide range of ways to relax and explore during your layover. With sufficient time between flights, you can join the airports free transit tour programme into the city, which generally requires at least a 5.5-hour layover to participate comfortably.

For shorter layovers, staying airside still provides plenty of options. You can visit indoor gardens, rest zones, and play areas, or take a swim at the rooftop pool in selected terminals. There are also shower facilities, quiet corners, and airport hotels if you prefer extra rest.

Dining and shopping options are extensive, with everything from casual snacks to full meals and a broad selection of international and regional brands. Your time at Singapore Changi Airport is more than just a wait - it is an integral part of your journey.

In Taipei, eligible Singapore Airlines passengers may relax in the SilverKris Lounge at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) before their flight to Singapore. Lounge access depends on your cabin class and KrisFlyer or Star Alliance status, as shown on your boarding pass at the time of entry.

During your layover at Singapore Changi Airport, eligible passengers may have access to the SilverKris Lounge (First Class), SilverKris Lounge (Business Class), or the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge, depending on cabin class and frequent flyer status. Access is determined by your onward flight from Singapore and the details printed on your boarding pass.

Taipei follows Taiwan Standard Time (UTC+8) all year round and does not observe daylight saving time. Penang, in Malaysia, uses Malaysia Time (UTC+8) throughout the year without daylight saving. This means there is no time difference between Taipei and Penang at any time of year.

We recommend that you arrive at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport at least 2.5 to 3 hours before your scheduled departure time for flights to Penang via Singapore. This allows enough time for check-in, security checks, and any potential queues, especially during busier travel periods.

Visa requirements depend on your nationality and the purpose and length of your stay. We advise that you check the latest entry regulations for Malaysia with the relevant embassy or official government website before you travel, and ensure your passport has sufficient validity for your trip.

If your Taipei to Penang journey is ticketed on a single Singapore Airlines itinerary, we will usually check your baggage through to Penang at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. Your baggage tags and boarding passes will confirm this, so please review them carefully at check-in.

On arrival at Penang International Airport, you will proceed through immigration, followed by baggage claim and customs.
