Best time to visit Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka has a tropical climate with regional variations. The north-east monsoon season (low season) typically runs from October to January, bringing heavier rain to the east and north, with temperatures around 26–30°C (79–86°F). The drier period for much of the south and west (peak season) is from December to March, when coastal areas such as Colombo and Galle average 27–31°C (81–88°F) with plenty of sunshine. The shoulder season months of April to September see warmer temperatures of about 28–32°C (82–90°F) and more changeable showers, but often good beach conditions on the east coast around Trincomalee and Arugam Bay.
