Book the Cook
Eligible customers in selected cabins can pre-order from our Book the Cook service on the Singapore to Los Angeles sector, choosing from a wider menu created by our International Culinary Panel. This allows you to confirm your main course before you fly.

Beverage Service
Throughout the journey, you can enjoy a selection of hot and cold drinks, including juices and soft drinks. Our signature Singapore Sling is available on board, alongside a curated range of other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

For flights between Chennai and Los Angeles, our baggage policy uses the piece concept as the journey includes the United States of America. For checked baggage, Economy Class customers may take 2 pieces, each up to 23kg. Premium Economy Class customers may take 2 pieces, each up to 23kg. Business Class customers may take 2 pieces, each up to 32kg. Each individual piece must not exceed 32kg. For cabin baggage, Economy Class and Premium Economy Class customers may bring 1 piece up to 7kg, while Business Class customers may bring 2 pieces, each up to 7kg. Your final allowance is printed on your e-ticket, and KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members have additional allowances.

Wi-Fi is available on Singapore Airlines flights once the aircraft is above 10,000 feet. It is free and unlimited for KrisFlyer members; Economy Class and Premium Economy Class customers should add their membership number to the booking at least 1.5 hours before departure. Paid plans are available for non-members. The service is suitable for messaging, email, and basic browsing, but it does not support video streaming, video calls, or large file transfers.

On the Chennai to Singapore sector, you can choose Economy Class, which offers a 32-inch pitch and up to a 19-inch seat width, or Business Class, which features a fully flat bed with generous space. On the Singapore to Los Angeles sector, Economy Class provides a 32-inch pitch and up to a 19-inch seat width, Premium Economy Class offers a 38-inch pitch and up to a 20-inch seat width, and Business Class provides a fully flat bed with direct aisle access at every seat.

On both sectors of your journey, you can enjoy KrisWorld, our inflight entertainment system, on seatback screens. It offers a wide selection of films, TV series, music, and games, including options in multiple languages, so you can tailor your viewing to the duration of each flight.

Yes, Singapore Airlines provides lounge access to eligible passengers with a layover in Singapore. Your eligibility is based on your class of travel or your KrisFlyer and Star Alliance status, and it is determined by your flight leaving Singapore. Other options, like purchasing a day pass at a pay-per-use lounge, are also available.

Singapore Changi Airport offers a free official transit tour into the city for eligible passengers with layovers of around 5.5 hours or more, subject to timing and availability, allowing you to see key sights between flights. For shorter layovers, you can stay airside and enjoy themed gardens, rest areas, children’s play zones, and a wide choice of dining and shopping. Some terminals also offer pay-per-use lounges and transit hotels if you prefer to rest in private. Your time at Singapore Changi Airport is more than just a wait — it is an integral part of your journey.

At Chennai International Airport, eligible Singapore Airlines customers may relax in the Travel Club Lounge before departure. Access depends on your cabin class and frequent flyer status, and our airport staff will guide you to the appropriate facility at check-in.

During your layover at Singapore Changi Airport, eligible customers may be invited to use the SilverKris Lounge (First Class), SilverKris Lounge (Business Class), or KrisFlyer Gold Lounge, depending on cabin of travel and membership status. Your lounge entitlement is determined by your onward boarding pass from Singapore.

Chennai follows India Standard Time (UTC+5:30) all year. Los Angeles follows Pacific Time, which is UTC-8 during standard time (approximately November to March) and UTC-7 during daylight saving time (approximately March to November). This means Los Angeles is 13.5 hours behind Chennai in winter and 12.5 hours behind in summer.

For flights from Chennai to Los Angeles via Singapore, we recommend arriving at Chennai International Airport at least 3 hours before your scheduled departure. This allows enough time for check-in, security, and immigration before you proceed to the gate.

Transit visa requirements for Singapore depend on your nationality and travel documents. Many passengers can transit airside at Singapore Changi Airport without a visa if they remain in the transit area. We recommend checking the latest entry and transit rules with the relevant authorities before you travel.

If both your Chennai–Singapore and Singapore–Los Angeles flights are on a single Singapore Airlines booking, we will normally check your baggage through to Los Angeles. You should still confirm your baggage tag details at check-in and keep essential items in your cabin baggage.
