Please note that no meal service is provided for Economy Class passengers on the Singapore–Penang segment due to the short flight time.

For flights between Colombo and Penang, the weight concept applies. For checked baggage, Economy Class passengers may check 25kg on Lite and Value fares, and 30kg on Standard and Flexi fares. Business Class passengers may check up to 40kg. Each checked bag must not exceed 32kg.

For cabin baggage, Economy Class passengers may bring 1 piece up to 7kg, while Business Class passengers may bring 2 pieces, each up to 7kg. The final baggage allowance for your trip will be shown on your e-ticket, and KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members are entitled to additional allowances.

Wi-Fi is available on Singapore Airlines flights from Colombo to Penang once the aircraft is above 10,000 feet. Wi-Fi is free and unlimited for KrisFlyer members; Economy Class members must add their membership number to the booking at least 1.5 hours before departure. Non-members can purchase access plans on board. The service is suitable for messaging, email, and basic browsing, but does not support video streaming, video calls, or large file transfers.

On the Colombo–Singapore sector, in Economy Class you can expect a seat pitch of about 32 inches and up to 19 inches of seat width, while Business Class offers a fully flat bed with direct aisle access on both the Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 787-10.

On the Singapore–Penang sector, Economy Class also offers around 32 inches of pitch and up to 19 inches of seat width on the Boeing 737-8 MAX, and Business Class provides a spacious reclining seat that converts into a fully flat or near-flat sleeping surface, ensuring added comfort on this shorter flight.

On the Colombo–Singapore sector, our wide-body aircraft feature personal screens loaded with films, TV series, music, and games. On the Singapore–Penang sector, your Boeing 737-8 MAX flight also offers personal entertainment, so you can continue your chosen film or start something new between Singapore and Penang.

Yes, Singapore Airlines provides lounge access to eligible passengers with a layover in Singapore. Your eligibility is based on your class of travel or your KrisFlyer and Star Alliance status, and it is determined by your flight leaving Singapore. Other options, like purchasing a day pass at a pay-per-use lounge, are also available.

In Colombo, eligible passengers may relax before departure in facilities such as the AASL Lotus Lounge or Araliya Lounge. During your layover at Singapore Changi Airport, eligible customers can access selected Singapore Airlines lounges including SilverKris Lounge (First Class), SilverKris Lounge (Business Class), or the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge, depending on cabin and frequent flyer status.

Singapore Changi Airport offers extensive facilities and attractions for transit passengers. If you have at least 5.5 to 6 hours, you may consider joining an official city tour, subject to availability and entry requirements. For shorter layovers, you can enjoy indoor gardens, art installations, play areas, nap zones, and a wide range of dining and shopping.

If time allows, you might also explore airport attractions such as viewing decks, themed gardens, or family-friendly play spaces between flights, while staying close to your departure gate. Your time at Singapore Changi Airport is more than just a wait – it is an integral part of your journey.

Colombo operates on Sri Lanka Time (UTC+5:30) year-round, with no daylight saving. Penang uses Malaysia Time (UTC+8) year-round, also without daylight saving. Penang is therefore 2 hours 30 minutes ahead of Colombo throughout the year.

For flights from Colombo to Penang via Singapore, we recommend arriving at Bandaranaike International Airport at least 3 hours before departure to allow time for check-in, security checks, and immigration. If you need special assistance or are travelling in a group, consider arriving a little earlier.

From there, you can choose between public transport, pre-arranged transfers, or airport-authorised taxis to reach George Town or other parts of the island. When you travel from Colombo to Penang on a single Singapore Airlines itinerary, we will usually check your baggage through to your final destination at check-in in Colombo. Your baggage tag will show Penang as the final point; we recommend confirming this at the counter and keeping your baggage receipts safely.
