Please note that no meal service is provided for Economy Class passengers on the Singapore–Penang segment due to the short flight time.

For flights between Kathmandu and Penang, our weight concept applies. Checked baggage allowances are: Economy Class (25kg for Lite and Value fares; 30kg for Standard and Flexi fares) and Business Class (40kg). Each checked bag must not exceed 32kg.

For cabin baggage, Economy Class passengers may bring one piece up to 7kg, while Business Class passengers may bring two pieces, each up to 7kg. Your final allowance is confirmed on your e-ticket, and KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members enjoy additional allowances.

Wi-Fi is available on our Boeing 737-8 MAX services on this route once the aircraft is above 10,000 feet. It is free and unlimited for KrisFlyer members; Economy Class members must add their membership number to the booking at least 1.5 hours before departure. Paid plans are available for non-members.

The connection is suitable for messaging, email, and basic browsing. It does not support video streaming, video calls, or large file transfers, so we recommend downloading any heavy content before you fly.

On both the Kathmandu–Singapore and Singapore–Penang sectors, operated by the Boeing 737-8 MAX, Economy Class seats offer a 32-inch pitch with up to 19-inch seat width, giving you comfortable space to relax on these flights.

Business Class provides a larger, more spacious seat with enhanced recline and legroom compared with Economy Class, along with additional personal space for work or rest throughout the journey.

On the Kathmandu–Singapore sector, our Boeing 737-8 MAX offers an extensive selection of entertainment, including movies, TV shows, music, and games, available through your personal screen. On the shorter Singapore–Penang flight, a tailored selection is provided so you can still enjoy content during the brief journey.

Yes, Singapore Airlines provides lounge access to eligible passengers with a layover in Singapore. Your eligibility is based on your class of travel or your KrisFlyer and Star Alliance status, and it is determined by your flight leaving Singapore. Other options, like purchasing a day pass at a pay-per-use lounge, are also available.

Singapore Changi Airport offers many ways to make your layover enjoyable, from indoor gardens and themed rest areas to children’s play zones and quiet seating areas. For longer transits, you can consider the airport’s official transit tour programmes, which usually require at least a 5.5-hour layover to join.

If you prefer to stay airside, you will find showers, snooze areas, and a wide variety of dining and shopping options in each terminal. Your time at Singapore Changi Airport is more than just a wait — it is an integral part of your journey.

When departing from Kathmandu, eligible Singapore Airlines passengers may be invited to use the Horizon Lounge at Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM). Lounge access depends on your cabin class, KrisFlyer membership tier, or Star Alliance status, and will be indicated on your boarding pass at check-in.

During your layover at Singapore Changi Airport, eligible passengers may have access to the SilverKris Lounge (First Class), SilverKris Lounge (Business Class), or KrisFlyer Gold Lounge, depending on cabin class and KrisFlyer or Star Alliance status. Your boarding pass and signage at the terminal will guide you to the appropriate lounge.

Kathmandu operates on Nepal Time (UTC+5:45) all year. Penang follows Malaysia Time (UTC+8:00) and does not observe daylight saving time. This means Penang is 2 hours 15 minutes ahead of Kathmandu throughout the year.

Penang International Airport is compact and straightforward to navigate, with clear signage for immigration, baggage claim, and onward transport. On arrival, you will find options such as taxis, app-based rides, and buses to George Town and other parts of the island. We recommend checking local guidance for current transport details.

We recommend arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport at least 3 hours before your scheduled departure time for flights to Penang via Singapore. This allows sufficient time for check-in, security checks, immigration, and any potential queues, ensuring a more relaxed start to your journey.

Transit visa requirements depend on your nationality and the regulations of Singapore and Malaysia. Many travellers can transit airside in Singapore without a visa, but this is not guaranteed. We strongly advise checking with the relevant authorities or your nearest embassy or consulate before you travel.

If your Kathmandu–Singapore and Singapore–Penang flights are on a single Singapore Airlines itinerary, we will normally check your bags through to Penang. You should confirm this at check-in in Kathmandu and keep your baggage tags until you collect your bags at Penang International Airport.
