For flights between Christchurch and Johannesburg, our weight-concept baggage policy applies. For checked baggage, Economy Class passengers enjoy 25kg on Lite and Value fares, and 30kg on Standard and Flexi fares. Premium Economy Class passengers have 35kg, and Business Class passengers have 40kg. Each checked bag must not exceed 32kg. For cabin baggage, Economy Class and Premium Economy Class passengers may bring 1 piece up to 7kg, while Business Class passengers may bring 2 pieces, each up to 7kg. The final allowance for your trip is shown on your e-ticket, and KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members may enjoy additional allowances.

Wi-Fi is available on our Airbus A350-900 flights from Christchurch to Johannesburg once the aircraft is above 10,000 feet. It is free and unlimited for KrisFlyer members; Economy Class and Premium Economy Class customers should add their membership number to the booking at least 1.5 hours before departure. Paid plans are available for non-members. The connection is suitable for messaging, email, and basic browsing, but it does not support video streaming, video calls, or large file transfers.

On both the Christchurch–Singapore and Singapore–Johannesburg Airbus A350-900 sectors, Economy Class seats offer a 32-inch pitch and up to 19-inch seat width. Premium Economy Class provides a 38-inch pitch and up to 20-inch seat width, with enhanced recline and leg support. Business Class features a fully flat bed with direct aisle access from every seat.

Yes, Singapore Airlines provides lounge access to eligible passengers with a layover in Singapore. Your eligibility is based on your class of travel or your KrisFlyer and Star Alliance status, and it is determined by your flight leaving Singapore. Other options, like purchasing a day pass at a pay-per-use lounge, are also available.

With a layover at Singapore Changi Airport, you can enjoy a variety of gardens, quiet rest areas, and family-friendly spaces without leaving the terminal. For longer layovers of around 5.5 hours or more, you may join the airport's free transit tour to see highlights of Singapore city. Shorter transits are well spent exploring indoor attractions, viewing installations, or relaxing in a café or lounge. Your time at Singapore Changi Airport is more than just a wait — it is an integral part of your journey.

When departing from Christchurch, eligible Singapore Airlines customers are generally invited to use the Air New Zealand International Lounge at Christchurch Airport. Lounge access depends on your cabin class and KrisFlyer or Star Alliance status, and will be confirmed at check-in.

During your layover at Singapore Changi Airport, eligible passengers may be invited to the SilverKris Lounge (First Class), SilverKris Lounge (Business Class), or KrisFlyer Gold Lounge, depending on their cabin and frequent flyer status. Lounge access is based on the onward flight from Singapore and is confirmed at the airport.

Christchurch follows New Zealand Standard Time (UTC+12) and New Zealand Daylight Time (UTC+13, from late September to early April). Johannesburg uses South Africa Standard Time (UTC+2) year-round. Johannesburg is 10 hours behind Christchurch during NZST, and 11 hours behind during NZDT.

On arrival at Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport, you will clear immigration and collect checked baggage before entering the public arrivals hall. From there, you can choose between train links, shuttle services, or taxis to reach the city. It is best to check local guidance for current transport options and travel times.

For flights from Christchurch to Johannesburg via Singapore, we recommend arriving at Christchurch Airport at least 3 hours before your scheduled departure. This allows enough time for check-in, baggage drop, security, and a relaxed walk to the gate.
