Carrying physical currency and bearer-negotiable instruments into Singapore


If you’re entering Singapore on or after 13 May 2024, 0000 hours, with physical currency or bearer negotiable instruments (CBNI) exceeding SGD20,000 or its foreign currency equivalent, you are required to submit a completed NP727 form online within 72 hours before your arrival in Singapore (i.e. before immigration checkpoint) via any of the following options:

  • e-727 e-service; or
  • MyICA Mobile Application – Download the official app for free from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android); or
  • After completing your Singapore Arrival Card (SGAC), under “Submit Cash (CBNI) Declaration”.

Duty-free restrictions

If you’re departing from or changing planes in Singapore:

  • Liquids, aerosols and gels purchased from duty-free shops, located after the security screening point at Changi Airport, are allowed on board.
  • These items must be packed in a transparent, sealed plastic bag, which includes the original receipt(s).
  • If you’re changing planes in Singapore, duty-free purchases made on another sector of your journey must be packed in a transparent, sealed plastic bag, which includes the original receipt(s).
  • If you’re flying to Australia or the US, duty-free liquids, aerosols and gels are allowed provided they’re purchased on board your flight or delivered by Changi Airport’s duty-free personnel to the gate-hold room in a transparent, sealed plastic bag, which includes the original receipt(s).
  • If you’re changing planes in Singapore on your way to Australia or the US, you cannot carry duty-free items purchased from another sector of your journey.
  • Items that are not permitted will be disposed at the boarding gate.
