What is TATA AIG Travel Insurance offered by Singapore Airlines?

Travel Insurance is a travel insurance product that is offered to Singapore Airlines customers booking online on www.singaporeair.com. It is a policy underwritten by TATA AIG General Insurance Co. Ltd.

How do I purchase Travel Insurance?

You can purchase Travel Insurance while booking your flights on www.singaporeair.com OR via Manage Bookings on www.singaporeair.com.

Can I add Travel Insurance to my existing booking?

Yes, Travel Insurance can be added to an existing booking through manage my bookings on www.singaporeair.com.

Who does Travel Insurance apply to?

Any Singapore Airlines passenger greater than 6 months of age can be covered under Travel Insurance. The passenger has to be a valid and legal resident of the India / Holding a valid Indian passport / PIO (Person of Indian Origin card) / OCI  (Overseas Citizen of India card) & travelling in Singapore Airlines only.

1. What kind of benefits do I get with Travel Insurance?For more detailed information about the benefits available, please read the product description of your Policy Wordings or list of coverages offered while adding the insurance.
2. What is the coverage period for my Travel Insurance?Travel Insurance covers you for the duration of your trip up to a maximum of 180 days from the date of travel based on the travel dates provided.
3. When does my Travel Insurance coverage begin?

The coverage for trip cancellation typically begins at 12:01 am the day after the coverage is purchased. All other benefits become effective the date and time the insured starts their trip. Please refer to the specific conditions in your Policy Wordings.

4. Am I still covered by Travel Insurance if I catch a connecting flight to a different destination?

Under Travel Insurance, air travel coverage is only limited to Singapore Airlines flights only and the journey period chosen while purchasing the ticket. If there will be any intermittent journey/ journeys taken during the entire trip booked with Singapore Airlines the same will be covered even if it is with some other airlines.

5. If I require treatment for an illness during my trip, can I claim for medical/hospital and other related expenses?Yes, Travel Insurance covers emergency illness medical expenses, subject to policy terms and conditions. Details are found in your policy both on cash less and reimbursement basis.
6. How will my out-patient medical expenses be paid under Travel Insurance?Outpatient treatments are not covered in the policy.
7. Does Travel Insurance cover sports and other similar activities?No, currently Travel Insurance does not cover sports and similar activities as detailed in your Policy Wording.
8. Can I cancel my trip for any reason and get all my money back through my trip cancellation benefit?

The trip cancellation benefit is only applicable for specific reasons as detailed in your Policy Wording (Terms and Conditions). Covered reasons include, but are not limited to, unforeseen emergencies such as illness, or death involving you, and/or an immediate family member.  Pre-existing medical conditions and injuries known to any person who your trip depends on are not covered. For policies purchased please refer to the definition of “family member” in your Policy Wordings.

9. Can I buy Travel Insurance if I have a pre-existing medical condition?

Yes. However, Travel Insurance has exclusions on pre-existing medical conditions as detailed in your Policy Wording. “Pre-existing medical conditions” refers to illness, disease or other medical conditions that you knew about before you purchased Travel Insurance. For policies purchased, please refer to the definition of “pre-existing” in your Policy Wordings.

10. Does my baggage and personal effects benefit cover theft?No, the cover is not offered in the current policy.

After purchasing your policy

 
1. Can I cancel my Travel Insurance? If you have purchased your travel insurance policy in India whilst travelling from India to abroad, you may cancel your policy prior to your date of travel*. Please contact Singapore Airlines call center OR Mail your request to customersupport@tataaig.com. All refund to the customer will be made in 7 working days from the date of receiving all information and documents.
2. Is my Travel Insurance travel insurance premium refundable?Travel insurance premium is refundable if your cancel the policy prior to departure. supported with valid reason, documents & format filled with relevant information. All refund to the customer will be made in 7 working days from the date of receiving all information and documents.
3. Can I change my Travel Insurance policy?No, your Travel Insurance policy is not changeable. However, in the event of a rescheduling of a flight under the same booking reference, the new period of insurance will be issued on the new rescheduled date & the preceding policy shall stand cancelled. For fulfilling this transaction you need to call Singapore Airlines call center OR Mail your request to customersupport@tataaig.com.
4. What kind of changes can I make to my travel insurance policy?

Your travel insurance policy allows for most changes made to your trip. However, please note that changes to your policy must be made in conjunction with the changes made on your Singapore Airlines flight booking.

  • Before departing from India You can make changes to your policy in conjunction with the changes made on your Singapore Airlines flight booking. It allows you to make changes in your personal details/ Trip related details supported with relevant documents.
  • After departing from India You can extend your policy in conjunction with the extension made on your Singapore Airlines flight booking even after you have left India. All other changes related to your trip dates on your policy are prohibited after you have departed from India. Extension of policy is allowed. It allows you to make changes in your personal details/ Trip related details supported with relevant documents.

5. What happens to my Travel Insurance policy if I change the travel dates of my booking?Please Mail your request to customersupport@tataaig.com to change the travel date supported by relevant documents & format filled with relevant information.
6. What happens to my Travel Insurance policy if Singapore Airlines reschedules my return flight to a later date?Automatic extension of policy is not applicable. You need to request for an extension by Mailing your request to customersupport@tataaig.com with relevant supporting documents.
7. Do I have to carry a copy of my Certificate of Insurance when traveling?Ideally a valid insurance policy number is good enough for your security, carrying a copy is always handy and advisable. You will receive an email with the policy copy on a successful transaction.
8. What do I do if I did not receive or if I lost my Certificate of Insurance?

In the event that you do not receive the insurance certificate via email, you can request for a copy at customersupport@tataaig.com.

It is important that you call the numbers provided by Travel Insurance as detailed in your policy before taking any action. For any In patient treatment on reimbursement/ baggage loss / Baggage delay / trip / flight delay, please retain all original receipts / Bills / prescription / original medical certification / PIR reports (as applicable) and claim them on your return to your country of residence (INDIA). 3. How long is the claim processing time?

We aim to process claims within 15 working days of you submitting all of the required documentation (for reimbursement claims).

4. What is the time limit for lodging a claim?Completed claim forms and written evidence of loss must be furnished to us within thirty (30) Days after the date of such loss. Failure to furnish such evidence within the time required shall not invalidate nor reduce any claim if you can satisfy us that it was not reasonably possible for you to give proof within such time. The Company may accept claims where documents have been provided after a delayed interval only in special circumstances and for the reasons beyond the control of the insured.
5. What do I do if I disagree with the claims decision made?

Please contact the local insurance company general.claims@tataaig.com mentioned in the policy wording.

6. Can I contact travel claims if I wish to amend or cancel my travel itinerary?No, travel claims will only assist you with your claim if you have cancelled or cut short your trip.
7. Can I lodge a claim if Singapore Airlines has cancelled my flight?

No, Travel Insurance does not cover a claim if the airline cancels the flight.
