About the Wine Consultants

Ms Jeannie Cho Lee, Mr Michael Hill-Smith and Mr Oz Clarke currently make up the SIA panel of wine consultants. They are tasked with the selection of all wines served on Singapore Airlines and the development of the Airlines’ staff training programme in wine appreciation.

Jeannie Cho Lee

Ms Jeannie Cho Lee is the first Asian Master of Wine, and award-winning author, wine judge, educator and critic. She was awarded the Legion of Honor for her contributions to French gastronomy and wine in 2021 by the President of France. In 2015, Jeannie was selected as one of the top 100 most influential people in Hong Kong by the South China Morning Post and Debrett’s, and voted the 25th most powerful person in wine by Decanter magazine (UK).

She holds a Master’s degree from Harvard University, a doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, a Certificat de Cuisine from Cordon Bleu and is a qualified sake sommelier.
Michael Hill Smith

Michael Hill Smith

Mr Michael Hill Smith is a wine consultant, wine judge, writer and commentator. In 1988, he was the first Australian to pass the rigorous Master of Wine examination and won the Madame Bollinger Tasting Medal that same year. He established the highly rated Shaw + Smith winery with Martin Shaw in Adelaide Hills in 1989.
 
As the current Australian Regional Chairman for the Decanter World Wine Awards, Michael has extensive tasting experience in numerous international and Australian wine shows. Michael received his education in Roseworthy Agricultural College and holds an Advanced Diploma from the London Cordon Bleu School. In 2008, he was awarded the prestigious Order of Australia in recognition of his contribution to the Australian wine industry.
Oz Clarke

Oz Clarke

Mr Oz Clarke is a prolific writer who has received all the major wine writing accolades in the UK and US, including the Glenfiddich, Wine Guild and Lanson awards. He has authored many books on wine – including “Bordeaux”, which won the Louis Roederer International Wine Book of the Year award and “Grapes & Wines”. His most recent books are "Oz Clarke on Wine: Your Global Wine Companion" and "English Wine".
 
Oz also hosts several popular television and radio programmes, in addition to being co-chairman of the International Wine Challenge. In 2010, he was awarded the esteemed Officer of the Order of Agricultural Merit by the French government.

Singapore Airlines (“SIA”) is pleased to offer eligible Singapore Airlines PPS Club members (“Eligible Members”) and one (1) guest of their choosing an opportunity to join a Wine Appreciation Evening with Singapore Airlines Wine Consultants (“The Event”) on the terms and conditions herein.

  1. The details and specific terms and conditions of The Event are as follows:

Number of participants:

The number of participants for The Event is subject to the maximum capacity of the venue, save that such number shall always be subject to any capacity requirements prescribed by the prevailing safe management measures (“SMM”) as communicated by the relevant authorities in Singapore.

The Event Details:

Participants will enjoy a masterclass and dinner reception with Singapore Airlines Wine Consultants - Jeannie Cho Lee, Michael Hill-Smith and Oz Clarke.

  1. Singapore Airlines is offering Eligible Members (as described below) a chance to redeem 40,000 KrisFlyer miles for themselves or with one guest to participate in The Event. The Event includes a Masterclass with Singapore Airlines’ 3 wine consultants and a dinner at Capella Singapore on 30 March 2023.
  2. Eligible Members who wish to participate in The Event are invited to indicate their interest via this link.
  3. To be an Eligible Member, each Singapore Airlines PPS Club member must:
    1. Be a direct recipient of the electronic mailer sent by SIA titled "PPS Club Reserves presents a Wine Appreciation Evening with Singapore Airlines Wine Consultants".
    2. Have a balance of at least 40,000 KrisFlyer miles in his/her KrisFlyer membership account; and
    3. Be at least 18 years of age as of the date of The Event. Furthermore, his/her guest must also be at least 18 years of age as of the date of The Event.
  4. Registrations for The Event will be on a first-come, first-served basis and will be closed one week prior to the date of The Event, or when it is fully subscribed, whichever is earlier.
  5. Successfully registered Eligible Members will receive a confirmation email.
  6. Eligible Members who have successfully registered and their guests (collectively, the “Participants”) agree to comply and adhere to all relevant requirements in accordance with the prevailing SMM when attending The Event, including but not limited to any rules on wearing of masks and social distancing as required.
  7. Only fully vaccinated (per the authorities’ definition) Participants can attend The Event. In the event a Participant that has registered for The Event is unable to attend The Event due to testing positive for COVID-19, such Participant shall not attend The Event and SIA is not obliged to either reschedule The Event for the benefit of such Participant, or refund any KrisFlyer miles to any Eligible Members.
  8. While SIA shall take the necessary steps and precautions in accordance with prevailing SMM, Participants acknowledge that they are attending The Event at their own risk. SIA is not liable to the Participants in case any of the Participants test positive for COVID-19 following The Event.
  9. To the maximum extent permitted by law, SIA shall not be liable to the Participants for any loss, damage, death, injury, disability and any loss or damage to property or person from any cause in connection with The Event and related activities.
  10. In the event that The Event cannot proceed at the specified date due to circumstances arising from or related to COVID-19, SIA reserves the right to reschedule The Event to a later date at its sole discretion.
  11. Unless otherwise specified, SIA will not be responsible for and will not bear any and all expenses and ancillary costs which may be incurred by any Participants in connection with The Event.
  12. SIA will not be liable or responsible for any separate experiences and/or promotions, including any disputes that may arise in relation to the same that may be offered by Capella during The Event.
  13. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Participants shall indemnify and hold harmless SIA, its affiliates, subsidiaries, and all of its respective directors, employees, servants, agents and contractors (the "Indemnified Parties") from and against all actions, claims, demands, losses, damages, costs and expenses of whatever nature arising out of, in connection with, or due to the Participants’ participation in The Event, the use of any information or material supplied by the Participants to the Indemnified Parties, the Participants’ withdrawal from The Event for any reasons, and/ or any act or omission of the Participants.
  14. Conditions of use for the websitePrivacy PolicyCookie Policy, and PPS Club/KrisFlyer terms and conditions shall apply.
  15. SIA may capture photographs, audio, video, and other recordings ("Recordings") of the Participants in the course of The Event. By registering for and/or participating in The Event, Participants consent to the collection, use, disclosure, and other processing (collectively, "Process" or "Processing") of such Recordings for commercial and/or publicity purposes across all media, including but not limited to, SIA's publications, and websites. Eligible Members and/or Participants may withdraw consent to Processing of Recordings of them by contacting PPS Club Reserves team at PPSClub_Reserves@singaporeair.com.sg or informing a member of SIA’s staff at The Event. Such consent by Eligible Members and/or Participants also constitutes agreement that the Recordings in their original or edited format may be Processed as described above without further notification, remuneration or compensation, and that copyright and all other intellectual property rights in and to all Recordings shall vest solely and absolutely in SIA.
  16. By registering for and/or participating in The Event, Eligible Members consent that SIA may Process their personal data for the purposes of The Event as detailed in these terms and conditions and in accordance with the SIA Privacy Policy. If Eligible Members provide us with any personal data relating to a third party (e.g. information on their guest), by submitting such information to us, Eligible Members warrant and represent to us that they have obtained the consent of such third party to providing us with their personal data, and for the collection, use and disclosure of their personal data for all purposes set out in our SIA Privacy Policy and by or for the benefit of the persons referenced in the same.
  17. SIA reserves the right to vary these terms and conditions or terminate The Event without prior notice and without liability to any Participants.
  18. In the event of any inconsistency between these terms and conditions and any brochures, marketing or promotional materials relating to The Event, these terms and conditions shall prevail to the extent of such inconsistency.
  19. A person who is not a party to these terms and conditions has no right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 2001 to enforce any of these terms and conditions.
  20. These terms and conditions and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it or its subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Singapore. Parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore courts.
