Eligibility / Entitlement
1. Passengers holding Singapore Airlines tickets as identified by the “618” prefix in the ticket number may purchase additional baggage allowance for all flights operated by Singapore Airlines subject to these terms and conditions:
a. Singapore Airlines ticket(s) as identified by the “618” prefix in the ticket number, with all flights on the ticket(s) operated by Singapore Airlines; and
b. Ticket(s) issued by carriers other than Singapore Airlines, with all flights on the ticket(s) operated by Singapore Airlines.
2. For flights where multiple carriers are involved (i.e. flights involving SIA and other airlines – either under a codeshare or interline arrangement), passengers may purchase additional baggage allowance only upon check-in at the airport of embarkation.
3. For travel to destinations where the weight applies:
a. The limits shall be follows:
(i). Each passenger travelling to or from Yangon would only be entitled to additional baggage allowance (whether Pre-Purchase, Last-Minute or otherwise) up to a maximum limit of 30kg per flight. Passengers are responsible for ensuring that the additional baggage allowance purchased (whether Pre-Purchased, Last-Minute or otherwise) is within the maximum limit of 30kg.
(ii). In any other case, passengers may purchase up to a maximum of 100 kg per flight.
b. The purchase of the additional baggage allowance shall be as follows:
(i). Pre-Purchased or Last-Minute additional baggage allowance to be purchased in units of 5kg; and
(ii). Additional baggage allowance purchased less than 6 hours prior to departure to be purchased in units of 1kg.
4. For travel to destinations where the piece concept applies, passengers may purchase any combination of the following items:
a. a maximum of two (2) additional pieces on top of the free baggage allowance;
b. additional 9kg for one and/or both pieces of their free baggage allowance; or
c. an oversized baggage for one and/or both pieces of their free baggage allowance where the sum of the length, weight and height of each baggage exceeds 158cm.
Purchases up to 6 hours prior to departure
5. Each passenger is limited to one purchase of either:
a. Pre-Purchased ("Pre-Purchased", defined as additional baggage allowance purchased more than 48 hours to departure.); or
b. Last-Minute ("Last-Minute", defined as additional baggage allowance purchased within 48 hours up to 6 hours prior to departure).
6. The Pre-Purchased or Last-Minute additional baggage allowance purchased shall only be valid for the flight and date shown on the receipt.
7. A discounted rate is applicable for the purchase of Pre-Purchased or Last-Minute additional baggage allowance via:
a. Singaporeair.com;
b. the Singapore Airlines Mobile application;
c. the Singapore Airlines Contact Centre; and
d. any online travel agent authorized by Singapore Airlines to sell additional baggage allowance on behalf of Singapore Airlines.
8. Any additional baggage allowance purchased through channels other than in clause 7, including purchase made upon check-in at the airport of departure or at any Singapore Airlines office, will be charged at standard additional baggage rates.
9. Any excess of additional baggage over the Pre-Purchased or Last-Minute additional baggage allowance purchased will be charged at standard additional baggage rates upon presentation of baggage at the departure airport.
10. Last-Minute additional baggage allowance cannot be purchased after the passenger has performed early check-in at the airport counter. Any baggage in excess of the passenger’s baggage allowance / entitlement will be charged at standard airport additional baggage rates.
Payment of additional baggage allowance
11. Additional baggage fees are assessed at check in, with additional baggage allowance charged at standard additional baggage rates unless purchased in advance in accordance with these terms and conditions.
12. Additional baggage allowance is confirmed only upon full payment of the additional baggage fees.
13. An e-payment receipt will be issued for the payment if the additional baggage allowance is purchased via singaporeair.com, the Singapore Airlines Mobile application, the Singapore Airlines Contact Centre or at the airport. You should present this additional baggage allowance e-payment receipt at the airport check-in counter on departure.
14. For Singapore Airlines flight itineraries originating/commencing from India destinations, India GST (K3) tax will be applied on top of your fees paid for your additional baggage allowance. This is in accordance with local regulatory requirements. The breakdown of the tax will be shown on the e-payment receipt.
Changes to itinerary after purchase
15. If a passenger has purchased additional baggage allowance and subsequently changes flight date and/or time with no change in origin/destination, they are eligible, at any time prior to departure, to have their additional baggage allowance transferred to the new flight date/time with no additional payments, upon request at the Singapore Airlines Contact Centre.
16. If a passenger has purchased additional baggage allowance and subsequently changes their itinerary’s origin and/or destination points, they may have their additional baggage allowance transferred to their new flights provided their new flights are in the same band(s) as the original flights, and in the same baggage concept (weight or piece concept). For example, if the original itinerary was for travel from Singapore to Paris, passenger may have their additional baggage allowance transferred if they change their destination to Frankfurt or Amsterdam, but not if they change it to New York as it is in a different band, and also because flights to New York will be on piece concept whereas flights between Singapore and Europe are on weight concept. This transfer may be requested at any time prior to departure at the Singapore Airlines Contact Centre.
17. If a passenger has purchased additional baggage allowance, and subsequently changes their origin and/or destination, such that their new flight(s) are in different bands or different concept (weight or piece concept) from their original flight(s), they may request a refund of their fees paid for the additional baggage allowance from the Singapore Airlines Contact Centre.
Refusal of carriage of baggage
18. Singapore Airlines reserves the right to refuse carriage of any baggage as part of the passenger’s additional baggage allowance if:
a. the fees for the additional baggage allowance have not been paid to Singapore Airlines;
b. in the scenario where the weight concept applies, the additional baggage allowance exceeds the prescribed weight limits in clause 3 above;
c. in the scenario where the piece concept applies, the additional baggage allowance is purchased not in accordance with the requirements set out in clause 4 above; or
d. the additional baggage allowance had been purchased in breach of these terms and conditions.
19. In the event the passenger had purchased additional baggage allowance which exceeds the prescribed weight limit in clause 3 above, Singapore Airlines will provide the passenger with a refund of the fees paid for the additional baggage allowance above the prescribed weight limit.
Airport restrictions on baggage weight
20. Some airports allow only a maximum weight of 32kg per bag. Please refer to www.singaporeair.com or other authoritative sources to ascertain if the airport you are departing from has baggage weight restrictions.
Mileage points
21. No mileage points will be awarded for any excess of additional baggage allowance costs paid.
Modification
22. Singapore Airlines reserves the right, at its absolute and sole discretion, to revise its additional baggage rates, as well as the terms and conditions associated with the purchase of additional baggage allowance at any time with or without prior notice.
23. Singapore Airlines reserves the right to interpret, apply and communicate these terms and conditions. All decisions made by Singapore Airlines shall be final and conclusive in each case.
General Conditions of Carriage
24. All baggage carried is subject to Singapore Airlines’ General Conditions of Carriage for Passengers and Baggage.
