Transiting in Singapore

Customers transiting through Singapore Changi Airport can learn more about the transit experience on this page.

There are certain requirements transit passengers must meet, including a transit time in Singapore not exceeding 48 hours 

Travellers, regardless of vaccination status, are allowed to transit through Singapore on all Singapore Airlines flights as long as they meet the entry requirements of their final destination. Due to regulatory requirements, transit through Singapore to a destination in Mainland China is not allowed. In addition, transit through Singapore to Hong Kong SAR is also not available due to operational considerations. 

Before you book
Check if your transfer route is approved

SIA and Scoot customers may transit through Singapore Changi Airport to their planned destination.

Please ensure your full journey, including your transit flight to Singapore, is booked on a single itinerary. Travellers with existing bookings can check their itinerary's travel advisories via Manage Booking.

Check if your connections are available

All connections through Singapore Changi Airport are available. However, specific restrictions apply for the following countries/regions: 

Mainland China and Hong Kong SAR
You cannot transit through Singapore to a destination in Mainland China or Hong Kong SAR. Services from Mainland China and Hong Kong SAR to Singapore remain unaffected. Passengers departing from Mainland China or Hong Kong will be allowed to transfer through Singapore Changi Airport en route to their final destinations.

Take a pre-departure Covid-19 test

Please note that while travellers may not be required to present a negative pre-departure test result to transit through Singapore, they may still be required to produce a valid negative Covid-19 test certificate if it is required for entry into their planned destination.

Wear a face mask

Singapore Airlines remains guided by Singapore's regulations on in-flight health and safety requirements. All passengers, 6 years and above, must wear a face mask during the flight except when eating or drinking, or if prescribed exemptions apply (i.e. medical reasons with a certified doctor's letter).


Transiting at Singapore Changi Airport
Flight arrival and departure

Flights may arrive at or depart from Terminal 1, 2 or 3. Travellers with a connecting flight at another terminal may use the Skytrain located within the transit area to transfer between terminals. Transit travellers with a connecting flight at Terminal 2 are advised to remain in Terminal 3 before proceeding to their departure gates in Terminal 2, as only washrooms, food and drinks vending machines and smoking areas are available in Terminal 2 due to refurbishment works. Lounge access

Eligible customers are invited to the SilverKris Lounge and the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge in Terminal 3. As Changi Aiport Terminal is undergoing redevelopment works, the Terminal 2 SilverKris Lounge and KrisFlyer Gold Lounge are currently closed. Please note that travellers who are required to stay within the transit holding area will not be able to access the lounge.

Within Transit

Travellers flying from a restricted country will be required to stay within a transit holding area, where amenities are restricted. Travellers from these countries may wish to consider booking the Aerotel Singapore Transit Hotel at Changi Airport Terminal 1 or Ambassador Transit Hotel at Changi Airport Terminal 3, where they can stay within the hotel throughout their transit. There are currently no countries classified as restricted.

Medical symptoms

You will be attended to by the medical staff if you have any of the following symptoms during transit: fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, anosmia, or shortness of breath.

Arriving at your destination

Upon arriving at your final destination, please remember to practise safe distancing in the immigration queues and at the baggage claim area, as required by your destination country.
