Inorganic powder restrictions for international flights departing from Australia and New Zealand

The Australian Department of Home Affairs and the New Zealand authorities will require customers travelling on flights departing from Australia and New Zealand to adhere to inorganic powder restrictions in the cabin. Such restrictions will include the inspection of inorganic powders at the screening point. Customers will be allowed to carry not more than 350ml of such powders per person into the cabin. Customers are highly advised to pack such items in their checked baggage.

All types of organic powders (i.e. those consisting of, or derived from, living matter), medical, therapeutic or baby products, human remains and duty-free powders inside a properly sealed Secure Tamper Evident Bag (STEB) may be brought into the cabin.

Customers are advised to proceed to the boarding gates early to allow sufficient time for the new restrictions.

These restrictions will also apply to domestic flights departing from an international Australian terminal.
