Streamlining of Award Chart Structure
Consolidation of Europe zones
Current Europe zones (previously zones 11 & 12) will be combined into a single Europe zone (Zone 11). This will be effective for bookings ticketed from 24 May 2016.
Removal of Full Awards
Also from 24 May 2016, we will be removing Full Awards, and will have just 2 categories of awards, Saver and Standard.
For members who have ticketed at Full award levels, flights departing from 24 May 2016 will be rebooked to a Standard award, and we will refund you the difference in KrisFlyer miles. We will process these transactions and contact affected members once the rebooking has been completed.
Members who hold a confirmed booking for flight(s) departing from 24 May 2016 will be rebooked to the Standard award level when you ticket.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Why is Premium Economy Class redemptions only available as Saver Awards? Are there any plans to introduce Standard Awards for Premium Economy?
A: The Premium Economy Class is a small cabin, so we have introduced the most popular award category, Saver Awards, for Premium Economy redemptions and redemption upgrades.
Additionally, you also have the option to “Mix KrisFlyer Miles and Cash” on www.singaporeair.com to pay for any available commercial Premium Economy Class seat on SIA operated flights.
Q2: Is Premium Economy Class available on all routes and flights?
A: Premium Economy Class is only available on selected routes and flights. You are advised to check applicable flight schedules to determine where Premium Economy Class is offered.
Q3: I am searching for Premium Economy redemption flights online, but the flight search results only returns options for Economy redemption flights. Why is this so?
A: This indicates that Premium Economy Class is not offered on one or more flights in your itinerary. If you know which flight offers Premium Economy, you can search for Premium Economy Class redemption on that flight sector only, and search for either Economy/Business Class redemptions for the rest of your itinerary.
Q4: Will I still be able to perform a redemption upgrade from Economy to Business Class on a flight offering Premium Economy Class?
A: No. There is a one-cabin class upgrade policy that applies to all redemption upgrades. For a flight that offers Premium Economy Class, only the following redemption upgrades are applicable:
- Economy to Premium Economy Class; and
- Premium Economy to Business Class.
For a flight that does not offer Premium Economy Class, an Economy to Business Class redemption upgrade will still apply.
Q5: Can I perform redemption upgrades to/from different cabin classes within a single booking? For example:
(i) Economy Class & Premium Economy Class -> Business Class
(ii) Economy Class -> Premium Economy Class & Business Class
A: Yes, subject to ticket eligibility and one-cabin class upgrade policy. However, as such mixed-class redemption upgrade requests are not supported online currently, please contact KrisFlyer Membership Services.
Q6: Can I redeem for Premium Economy Class on other Star Alliance airlines?
A: Unfortunately, Premium Economy Class redemptions on other Star Alliance carriers are currently still unavailable.
Q1: Why is SIA removing Full Awards from all cabin classes?
A: With more redemption options now available to members, we will be streamlining our awards to just 2 of the most popular categories, Saver and Standard Awards.
Additionally, members also have the option to “Mix KrisFlyer Miles and Cash” on www.singaporeair.com to pay for any available commercial seat on SIA/SilkAir operated flights.
Q2: If I have an existing Full Award redemption/redemption upgrade ticket for a flight departing on/after 24 May 2016, what will happen to my ticket?
A: Your Full Award ticket will be proactively rebooked into a Standard Award ticket, with the difference in mileage refunded to you. You will be contacted by one of our customer service agents, when the rebooking has been completed.
Q3: Why is there an increase in mileage levels for Zone 11 in both Saver and Standard Awards?
A: As part of our regular review of the award charts, we have merged the two Europe zones (11 & 12) into one streamlined Europe zone. Consequently, the award levels for 3 European points in Zone 11 (namely AMS/CPH/FCO) have been common-rated with the rest of Europe.
There are no changes to the award levels required for any other destinations.
Q4: Does the streamlining of Europe zones impact redemption upgrade?
A: Yes, the streamlining of Europe zones apply for both redemption and redemption upgrades. Consequently, from 24 May 2016, mileage required for redemption upgrades for Europe will also be common-rated.
There are no changes to the award levels required for redemption upgrades for any other destinations.
Q5: Are there changes to the Star Award Chart?
A: No, Star Award levels remain unchanged.
