Best time to visit Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka experiences two main monsoon patterns, so different coasts shine at different times of year. The west and south coasts, plus much of the hill country, are in peak season from December to March, with temperatures around 27–30°C (81–86°F) on the coast and cooler evenings in the highlands. April, September, and November are shoulder season for much of the island, with warm temperatures around 28–31°C (82–88°F) and occasional showers, making it a flexible time if you plan to move between regions. The east coast enjoys its peak season roughly from May to September, while the southwest is in its low season, with more frequent rain, rougher seas, and temperatures of about 26–29°C (79–84°F), but greener landscapes and fewer crowds.
