For flights between Shanghai and Chennai, our weight-concept baggage policy applies. In Economy Class, the checked baggage allowance is 25kg on Lite and Value fares, and 30kg on Standard and Flexi fares. Premium Economy Class on the Shanghai–Singapore sector includes 35kg of checked baggage.

In Business Class, the checked baggage allowance is 40kg, and in First Class on the Shanghai–Singapore sector it is 50kg. Each checked bag must not exceed 32kg in weight for safety reasons.

For cabin baggage, Economy Class and Premium Economy Class passengers may bring 1 piece up to 7kg. First Class and Business Class passengers may bring 2 pieces, each up to 7kg. Your final allowance is shown on your e-ticket, and KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members enjoy additional allowances.

Wi-Fi is available on most Singapore Airlines flights from Shanghai to Chennai, once the aircraft is above 10,000 feet. It is free and unlimited for KrisFlyer members; Economy Class and Premium Economy Class members should add their membership number to the booking at least 1.5 hours before departure.

The 'Next Segment' Rule: Eligibility is based on the flight immediately departing that airport. For example, if you fly Economy from Shanghai but have a Business Class onward flight from Singapore, you get lounge access in Singapore only.

If you have a longer layover at Singapore Changi Airport, you can consider joining one of the official city tours, which typically require a minimum transit time of around 5.5 to 6 hours. These tours let you experience highlights of Singapore while still keeping your connection convenient.

For shorter layovers, staying airside is very comfortable, with themed gardens, rest areas, and entertainment zones to help you relax between flights. Airport hotels and nap facilities are available if you want a quiet place to rest during longer waits.
