For flights between Melbourne and Amsterdam, our weight-concept policy applies. Checked baggage allowances are: Economy Class (25kg for Lite and Value fares, 30kg for Standard and Flexi), Premium Economy Class (35kg), Business Class (40kg), and Suites or First Class on eligible Melbourne–Singapore services (50kg). Each checked bag must not exceed 32kg. Cabin baggage allowances are: Economy Class and Premium Economy Class (1 piece up to 7kg), and Suites, First Class, and Business Class (2 pieces, each up to 7kg). Your final allowance is shown on your e-ticket, and KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members enjoy additional allowances.

Wi-Fi is available on Singapore Airlines flights from Melbourne to Amsterdam once the aircraft is above 10,000 feet. It is free and unlimited for KrisFlyer members; Economy Class and Premium Economy Class customers should add their membership number to the booking at least 1.5 hours before departure. Paid plans are available for non-members. The service is suitable for messaging, email, and basic browsing, but does not support video streaming, video calls, or large file transfers.

On both the Melbourne to Singapore and Singapore to Amsterdam sectors, Economy Class seats offer a 32-inch pitch with up to 19-inch seat width. Premium Economy Class provides a 38-inch pitch with up to 20-inch seat width. Business Class features a fully flat bed with direct aisle access at every seat. Cabin Class: Complimentary for Suites, First, and Business Class passengers. Premium Economy and Economy travellers do not have access unless they hold eligible status.

Frequent Flyer Status: PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Gold (or Star Alliance Gold) members have access regardless of cabin class.

The 'Next Segment' Rule: Eligibility is based on the flight immediately departing that airport. For example, if you fly Economy from Melbourne but have a Business Class onward flight from Singapore, you get lounge access in Singapore only. Eligible passengers may enjoy The Private Room, SilverKris Lounge (First Class), SilverKris Lounge (Business Class), or the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge, depending on their cabin and status.

If you have a longer layover at Singapore Changi Airport, you can join an official transit tour into the city, which typically requires a minimum of around 5.5 to 6 hours between flights. This is a convenient way to see highlights of Singapore while your bags remain checked through.

For shorter layovers, staying airside is very comfortable. Changi Airport offers themed gardens, rest zones, children’s play areas, and in selected terminals, features such as a swimming pool, cinema, and entertainment zones to help you relax between flights.

You will also find a wide range of dining and shopping, along with shower facilities and transit hotels if you prefer a few hours of sleep. Your time at Singapore Changi Airport is more than just a wait — it's an integral part of your journey.

Melbourne follows Australian Eastern Standard Time (UTC+10) and Australian Eastern Daylight Time (UTC+11) in summer. Amsterdam uses Central European Time (UTC+1) and Central European Summer Time (UTC+2). From late March to late October, Amsterdam is generally 8 or 9 hours behind Melbourne; from late October to late March, the difference ranges between 9 and 10 hours, depending on daylight saving changes.

For your bags to be sent directly to your final destination, the following general conditions must be met:

Layover Duration: Your connection in Singapore must be less than 24 hours. If your layover exceeds 24 hours, it is considered a stopover, and you will typically be required to collect your luggage and re-check it for your onward flight.

Partner Airlines: If your onward flight from Singapore to Amsterdam is operated by a partner airline, Singapore Airlines has through-check agreements that usually allow your bags to be tagged to your final destination.
