For flights between Dubai and Penang, our weight concept applies. Checked baggage allowances are: Economy Class (25kg on Lite/Value fares, 30kg on Standard/Flexi), Premium Economy Class (35kg), Business Class (40kg), and First Class (50kg). Each checked bag must not exceed 32kg. Cabin baggage allowances are: Economy Class and Premium Economy Class (1 piece up to 7kg), and Business Class and First Class (2 pieces, each up to 7kg). Your exact allowance is shown on your e-ticket, and KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members enjoy additional allowances.

Wi-Fi is available on Singapore Airlines flights from Dubai to Penang once the aircraft is above 10,000 feet. It is free and unlimited for KrisFlyer members; Economy Class and Premium Economy Class members should add their membership number to the booking at least 1.5 hours before departure. Non-members can purchase access plans. The service is designed for messaging, email, and basic browsing, and does not support video streaming, video calls, or large file transfers.

On the Dubai–Singapore sector, Economy Class offers a seat pitch of 32 inches with up to 19 inches of seat width, Premium Economy Class offers 38 inches of pitch with up to 20 inches of width, Business Class provides a fully flat bed with direct aisle access at every seat, and First Class also features a fully flat bed. On the Singapore–Penang sector, Economy Class offers a 32-inch pitch with up to 19-inch width, while Business Class provides a fully flat bed with direct aisle access.

Yes, Singapore Airlines provides lounge access to eligible passengers with a layover in Singapore. Your eligibility is based on your class of travel or your KrisFlyer and Star Alliance status, and it is determined by your flight leaving Singapore. Other options, like purchasing a day pass at a pay-per-use lounge, are also available.

Lounge Access Eligibility
Cabin Class: Complimentary for Suites, First, and Business Class passengers. Premium Economy and Economy travellers do not have access unless they hold eligible status.

Frequent Flyer Status: PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Gold (or Star Alliance Gold) members have access regardless of cabin class.

The 'Next Segment' Rule: Eligibility is based on the flight immediately departing that airport. For example, if you fly Economy from Dubai but have a Business Class onward flight from Singapore, you get lounge access in Singapore only.

In Singapore, eligible passengers may be invited to The Private Room, SilverKris Lounge (First Class), SilverKris Lounge (Business Class), or KrisFlyer Gold Lounge, depending on cabin class and membership status.

If you have a longer layover at Singapore Changi Airport, you can consider joining the airport's free city tour programmes, which typically require a minimum layover of around 5.5 to 6 hours. These tours offer a convenient way to see selected highlights without arranging your own transport or itinerary.

For shorter layovers, staying airside is very comfortable, with themed gardens, rest zones, play areas, and art installations across the terminals. You can also visit quiet seating areas, viewing galleries, or transit hotels and spa facilities if you would like more privacy and rest.

Dubai operates on Gulf Standard Time (UTC+4) and does not observe daylight saving time. Penang follows Malaysia Time (UTC+8), also without daylight saving. This means Penang is 4 hours ahead of Dubai throughout the year; for example, when it is 12.00 in Dubai, it is 16.00 in Penang.

Yes, your baggage will typically be checked through to Penang when flying from Dubai via Singapore on a single booking with Singapore Airlines.

Partner Airlines: If your onward flight from Singapore to Penang is operated by a partner airline, Singapore Airlines has through-check agreements that usually allow your bags to be tagged to your final destination.
