For this route, our weight concept applies. In Economy Class, the checked baggage allowance is 25kg on Lite and Value fares, and 30kg on Standard and Flexi fares. In Business Class, the checked baggage allowance is 40kg. Each checked bag must not exceed 32kg.

For cabin baggage, Economy Class passengers may bring one piece up to 7kg, while Business Class passengers may bring two pieces, each up to 7kg. Your final allowance is shown on your e-ticket, and KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members have additional allowances.

Wi-Fi is available on most Singapore Airlines flights on this route once the aircraft is above 10,000 feet. It is free and unlimited for KrisFlyer members; Economy Class members must add their membership number to the booking at least 1.5 hours before departure. Paid plans are available for non-members.

The connection is suitable for messaging, email, and basic browsing, but it does not support video streaming, video calls, or large file transfers.

On both the Chennai–Singapore and Singapore–Nagoya sectors, Economy Class offers a seat pitch of about 32 inches, with up to 19 inches of seat width, providing good comfort for the journey. Business Class features a fully flat bed on the Boeing 787-10, with every seat offering direct aisle access and generous personal space.

On the Boeing 737-8 MAX sector between Chennai and Singapore, Business Class also provides a lie-flat or deeply reclining seat configuration with enhanced space compared with Economy Class.

Lounge Access Eligibility
Cabin Class: Complimentary for Suites, First, and Business Class passengers. Premium Economy and Economy travellers do not have access unless they hold eligible status.

Frequent Flyer Status: PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Gold (or Star Alliance Gold) members have access regardless of cabin class.

The 'Next Segment' Rule: Eligibility is based on the flight immediately departing that airport. For example, if you fly Economy from Chennai but have a Business Class onward flight from Singapore, you get lounge access in Singapore only. Eligible passengers may use facilities such as the SilverKris Lounge (First Class), SilverKris Lounge (Business Class), or KrisFlyer Gold Lounge at Singapore Changi Airport.

If you have a long layover at Singapore Changi Airport, you can join one of the airport’s official free transit tours into the city, which typically require at least a 5.5 to 6-hour connection. These tours offer a glimpse of Singapore’s skyline and key districts without needing to plan your own route.

For shorter layovers, it is best to stay airside and enjoy the airport’s many amenities, including indoor gardens, relaxation zones, quiet areas, and family-friendly play spaces. Some terminals also feature entertainment options and airport hotels where you can rest between flights.

Chennai follows India Standard Time (IST), which is UTC+5:30 and does not observe daylight saving time. Nagoya follows Japan Standard Time (JST), which is UTC+9 and also does not use daylight saving time. Nagoya is therefore 3.5 hours ahead of Chennai throughout the year.

Through-Check Conditions
For your bags to be sent directly to your final destination, the following general conditions must be met:

Single Itinerary: Both flight segments (Chennai–Singapore and Singapore–Nagoya) must be under the same booking reference or PNR.

Layover Duration: Your connection in Singapore must be less than 24 hours. If your layover exceeds 24 hours, it is considered a stopover, and you will typically be required to collect your luggage and re-check it for your onward flight.

Partner Airlines: If your onward flight from Singapore to Nagoya is operated by a partner airline, Singapore Airlines has through-check agreements that usually allow your bags to be tagged to your final destination.
