Advisory on the carriage of power banks on board SIA flights

Singapore Airlines (SIA) will implement the updated guidelines from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) on the carriage of power banks, from Wednesday, 15 April 2026, 0001hrs (GMT+8).

Customers may carry a maximum of two power banks on board their flights. Customers are responsible for disposing of the excess power banks before their flights.

Power banks up to 100Wh may be carried without prior approval. Power banks between 100Wh and 160Wh require prior approval from the airline. Power banks above 160Wh are not allowed on board.

Power banks must be carried in cabin baggage and are not permitted in checked baggage. They should be kept in easily accessible locations such as customers’ seat-back pocket or under the seat in front of them. Power banks should not be stored in the cabin’s overhead compartments.

For safety reasons, power banks must not be charged using the in-seat power outlets or USB ports, and must not be used to charge personal devices, during the flight.

The safety of our customers and crew is our top priority.
