For flights between Christchurch and Penang, our baggage policy follows the weight concept. In Economy Class, the checked baggage allowance is 25kg for Lite and Value fares, and 30kg for Standard and Flexi fares. In Premium Economy Class, you may check in up to 35kg, and in Business Class up to 40kg. Each checked bag must not exceed 32kg.

For cabin baggage, Economy Class and Premium Economy Class customers may bring one piece up to 7kg. Business Class customers may bring two pieces, each up to 7kg. Your exact allowance will be shown on your e-ticket, and KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members enjoy additional allowances.

Wi-Fi is available on Singapore Airlines flights on this route once the aircraft is above 10,000 feet. Wi-Fi is free and unlimited for KrisFlyer members; Economy Class and Premium Economy Class customers should ensure their membership number is added to the booking at least 1.5 hours before departure. Non-members can purchase access plans. The service is ideal for messaging, email, and basic browsing, but does not support video streaming, video calls, or large file transfers.

Yes, Singapore Airlines provides lounge access to eligible passengers with a layover in Singapore. Your eligibility is based on your class of travel or your KrisFlyer and Star Alliance status, and it is determined by your flight leaving Singapore. Other options, like purchasing a day pass at a pay-per-use lounge, are also available.

Eligible customers may be able to access the SilverKris Lounge (First Class), SilverKris Lounge (Business Class), or KrisFlyer Gold Lounge during their time at Singapore Changi Airport, depending on cabin class and frequent flyer status.

Lounge Access Eligibility
Cabin Class: Complimentary for Suites, First, and Business Class passengers. Premium Economy and Economy travellers do not have access unless they hold eligible status.

Frequent Flyer Status: PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Gold (or Star Alliance Gold) members have access regardless of cabin class.

The 'Next Segment' Rule: Eligibility is based on the flight immediately departing that airport. For example, if you fly Economy from Christchurch but have a Business Class onward flight from Singapore, you get lounge access in Singapore only.

Singapore Changi Airport offers a wide range of ways to spend your layover. If you have at least 5.5 to 6 hours between flights and meet the entry requirements, you may be able to join an official transit tour into the city to see highlights before returning for your onward flight.

For shorter layovers, staying airside is comfortable and convenient. You can explore themed gardens, quiet rest areas, and relaxation zones, or visit spaces such as swimming pools, play areas, and cinemas, depending on the terminal you are in.

If you prefer to rest, consider booking an airport hotel or snooze facility within the transit area for a few hours of sleep and a shower between flights. Your time at Singapore Changi Airport is more than just a wait — it is an integral part of your journey.
