Book the Cook

Beverage Service
A selection of hot and cold beverages, including juices, soft drinks, tea, coffee, and alcoholic drinks, is available on board. Our signature Singapore Sling is also available for you to enjoy during the flight.

For flights between Auckland and Johannesburg, the weight-concept baggage system applies. Checked baggage allowances are: Economy Class (25kg on Lite and Value fares, 30kg on Standard and Flexi), Premium Economy Class (35kg), and Business Class (40kg). Each checked bag must not exceed 32kg. Cabin baggage allowances are: Economy Class and Premium Economy Class (1 piece up to 7kg), and Business Class (2 pieces, each up to 7kg). The final allowance for your journey will be shown on your e-ticket, and KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members enjoy additional allowances.

Wi-Fi is available on Singapore Airlines flights from Auckland to Johannesburg once the aircraft is above 10,000 feet. It is free and unlimited for KrisFlyer members; Economy Class and Premium Economy Class customers should add their membership number to the booking at least 1.5 hours before departure. Paid plans are available for non-members. The service is suitable for messaging, email, and basic browsing, but it does not support video streaming, video calls, or large file transfers.

On both the Auckland to Singapore and Singapore to Johannesburg Airbus A350-900 services, Economy Class offers a seat pitch of about 32 inches and up to 19 inches of seat width. Premium Economy Class provides a pitch of about 38 inches and up to 20 inches of seat width. Business Class seats convert into fully flat beds, with every seat offering direct aisle access for added comfort on these long sectors.

On the Airbus A350-900, you can enjoy our KrisWorld inflight entertainment system on both sectors between Auckland and Johannesburg. We offer a wide library of movies, TV shows, music, and games, with seatback screens and noise-reducing headphones so you can tailor the experience to your preferences.

Yes, Singapore Airlines provides lounge access to eligible passengers with a layover in Singapore. Your eligibility is based on your class of travel or your KrisFlyer and Star Alliance status, and it is determined by your flight leaving Singapore. Other options, like purchasing a day pass at a pay-per-use lounge, are also available.

With a layover at Singapore Changi Airport, you can choose from indoor gardens, rest areas, play zones, and diverse dining options within the terminals. Longer layovers may allow you time to join an official airport city tour programme if schedules align. For shorter transits, staying airside and enjoying the airport facilities is recommended. Your time at Singapore Changi Airport is more than just a wait — it is an integral part of your journey.

In Auckland, eligible customers may access the Air New Zealand International Lounge before departure. During your layover at Singapore Changi Airport, eligible passengers can use the SilverKris Lounge (First Class), SilverKris Lounge (Business Class), or KrisFlyer Gold Lounge, depending on cabin class and frequent flyer status.

Auckland operates on New Zealand Standard Time (UTC+12) and New Zealand Daylight Time (UTC+13, roughly late September to early April). Johannesburg uses South Africa Standard Time (UTC+2) year-round. This means Johannesburg is 10 to 11 hours behind Auckland, depending on the time of year.

Visa requirements depend on your nationality and the purpose and length of your stay. We recommend checking with the South African authorities or your nearest embassy, and reviewing official government travel advice, before you book and again before you fly.

For international flights from Auckland to Johannesburg via Singapore, we recommend arriving at Auckland Airport at least three hours before your scheduled departure time. This allows enough time for check-in, baggage drop, security, and immigration formalities.

On arrival at Johannesburg, you will proceed through immigration, collect your checked baggage, and then clear customs. Make sure you have your passport, completed arrival forms if required, and any supporting documents ready to present to local authorities.

From Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport, you can choose from train connections, shuttle services, or pre-arranged private transfers to reach the city.
