For flights between Frankfurt and Chennai, the weight concept applies. Checked baggage allowances are: Economy Class (Lite and Value fares: 25kg; Standard and Flexi fares: 30kg), Premium Economy Class (35kg), Business Class (40kg), and First Class or Suites (50kg). Each checked bag must not exceed 32kg. Cabin baggage allowances are: Economy Class and Premium Economy Class (1 piece, up to 7kg), and Business Class, First Class, and Suites (2 pieces, each up to 7kg). Your exact allowance is shown on your e-ticket, and KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members enjoy additional allowances.

Wi-Fi is available on Singapore Airlines flights once the aircraft is above 10,000 feet. It is free and unlimited for KrisFlyer members; Economy Class and Premium Economy Class customers should add their membership number to the booking at least 1.5 hours before departure. Non-members can purchase access plans. The connection supports messaging, email, and basic browsing, but is not designed for video streaming, video calls, or large file transfers.

On the Frankfurt–Singapore sector, Economy Class seats offer a 32-inch pitch with up to 19-inch seat width, Premium Economy Class offers a 38-inch pitch with up to 20-inch seat width, and Business Class provides a fully flat bed with direct aisle access. First Class on the Boeing 777-300ER and Suites on the Airbus A380-800 feature a spacious fully flat bed. On the Singapore–Chennai sector operated by the Boeing 737-8 MAX, you can choose between Economy Class with comfortable legroom and Business Class with larger seats and additional space to stretch out.

Yes, Singapore Airlines provides lounge access to eligible passengers with a layover in Singapore. Your eligibility is based on your class of travel or your KrisFlyer and Star Alliance status, and it is determined by your flight leaving Singapore. Other options, like purchasing a day pass at a pay-per-use lounge, are also available.

Lounge Access Eligibility
Cabin Class: Complimentary for Suites, First, and Business Class passengers. Premium Economy and Economy travellers do not have access unless they hold eligible status.

Frequent Flyer Status: PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Gold (or Star Alliance Gold) members have access regardless of cabin class.

The 'Next Segment' Rule: Eligibility is based on the flight immediately departing that airport. For example, if you fly Economy from Frankfurt but have a Business Class onward flight from Singapore, you get lounge access in Singapore only. In Singapore, eligible customers may be invited to The Private Room, SilverKris Lounge (First Class), SilverKris Lounge (Business Class), or KrisFlyer Gold Lounge, depending on their cabin and status.

Singapore Changi Airport offers extensive facilities, including themed gardens, quiet rest areas, and family zones, so shorter layovers can be comfortably spent airside. With at least around 5.5–6 hours, you may consider joining an official transit tour into the city, subject to eligibility and timing. For longer waits, you can explore the terminals, visit attractions such as indoor gardens and play areas, or relax at airport hotels and spa facilities. Your time at Singapore Changi Airport is more than just a wait — it is an integral part of your journey.

Frankfurt follows Central European Time (UTC+1) in winter and Central European Summer Time (UTC+2) from roughly late March to late October. Chennai follows India Standard Time (UTC+5:30) year-round. Chennai is therefore 4.5 hours ahead of Frankfurt in winter, and 3.5 hours ahead during Frankfurt’s summer time.

Through-Check Conditions
For your bags to be sent directly to your final destination, the following general conditions must be met:

Single Itinerary: Both flight segments (Frankfurt–Singapore and Singapore–Chennai) must be under the same booking reference or PNR.

Layover Duration: Your connection in Singapore must be less than 24 hours. If your layover exceeds 24 hours, it is considered a stopover, and you will typically be required to collect your luggage and re-check it for your onward flight.

Partner Airlines: If your onward flight from Singapore to Chennai is operated by a partner airline, Singapore Airlines has through-check agreements that usually allow your bags to be tagged to your final destination.
