Best time to visit Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka has a tropical climate shaped by two monsoon patterns, so different coasts have different best seasons. On the west and south coasts, the peak season runs roughly from December to March, with temperatures around 27–30°C (81–86°F) and calmer seas, making this the most popular time for coastal stays and city visits. The shoulder season on these coasts is from April to early May and again in November, when you may see short showers, but temperatures still hover around 26–30°C (79–86°F) and crowds are lighter. The low season on the west and south (usually May to October) coincides with higher rainfall and rougher seas, though the east coast often experiences sunnier, drier conditions at this time, with similar temperatures of 27–32°C (81–90°F), so you can still find good beach weather by choosing the right region.
