You will be served meals on both the Chengdu–Singapore and Singapore–Colombo sectors, with menus designed to reflect regional flavours and offer a balanced selection of dishes.

Special Meals
We offer a range of special meals to meet many dietary needs. You can request these in advance through our Manage Booking portal, and they will be served on both sectors of your journey.

Book the Cook
On eligible sectors, you can pre-select your main course from a wider menu using our Book the Cook service. This allows you to personalise your dining experience before you depart.

Beverage Service
Throughout the flight, a selection of hot and cold drinks is available, including juices, soft drinks, tea, coffee, and our signature Singapore Sling, which you can enjoy on board.

For Chengdu–Colombo journeys, our weight concept applies. Checked baggage allowances are: Economy Class (Lite and Value fares: 25kg; Standard and Flexi fares: 30kg) and Business Class (40kg). Each checked bag must not weigh more than 32kg. For cabin baggage, Economy Class passengers may bring 1 piece up to 7kg, while Business Class passengers may bring 2 pieces, each up to 7kg. Your final allowance is shown on your e-ticket, and KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members are entitled to additional allowances.

Wi-Fi is available on our Chengdu–Singapore and Singapore–Colombo flights once the aircraft is above 10,000 feet. It is free and unlimited for KrisFlyer members; Economy Class members must add their membership number to the booking at least 1.5 hours before departure. Paid plans are available for non-members. The service supports messaging, email, and basic browsing, but does not support video streaming, video calls, or large file transfers.

On the Chengdu–Singapore Boeing 787-10 sector, Economy Class offers a seat pitch of around 32 inches with up to 19 inches of seat width, while Business Class provides a fully flat bed with direct aisle access. On the Singapore–Colombo Airbus A350-900 sector, Economy Class has a similar 32-inch pitch and up to 19-inch width, and Business Class also features fully flat beds with direct aisle access.

On both the Boeing 787-10 and Airbus A350-900, our KrisWorld entertainment system offers a wide selection of movies, TV shows, music, and games on seatback screens. You can start watching shortly after take-off on each sector, and content is available in multiple languages to suit different preferences.

Yes, Singapore Airlines provides lounge access to eligible passengers with a layover in Singapore. Your eligibility is based on your class of travel or your KrisFlyer and Star Alliance status, and it is determined by your flight leaving Singapore. Other options, like purchasing a day pass at a pay-per-use lounge, are also available.

Singapore Changi Airport is designed for comfortable and engaging layovers. If you have at least around 5.5 to 6 hours between flights, you may consider joining one of the official transit tours into the city, subject to availability and entry requirements. For shorter layovers, you can enjoy indoor gardens, quiet rest areas, snooze zones, children’s play spaces, and a variety of dining and shopping options within the terminals. Your time at Singapore Changi Airport is more than just a wait — it is an integral part of your journey.

At Chengdu Tianfu International Airport (TFU), eligible Singapore Airlines passengers may use the TFU International First Class and Business Class Lounge before the flight to Singapore. Access depends on your cabin class or your KrisFlyer and Star Alliance status for the departing sector.

For most Chengdu–Colombo itineraries on a single Singapore Airlines ticket, we check your baggage through from Chengdu to Colombo via Singapore. You usually will not need to collect your checked baggage during the layover. Your baggage tag and boarding passes at check-in will confirm your through-check details.

Chengdu follows China Standard Time (UTC+8) all year, without daylight saving. Colombo follows Sri Lanka Standard Time (UTC+5:30), also without daylight saving. Colombo is therefore 2 hours 30 minutes behind Chengdu throughout the year.

Visa requirements depend on your nationality and purpose of travel. We recommend that you check the latest entry rules with the Sri Lankan authorities or your nearest consulate, and ensure that you meet any transit requirements for Singapore as well before you depart Chengdu.

For international flights from Chengdu to Colombo via Singapore, we recommend arriving at Chengdu Tianfu International Airport at least 3 hours before departure. This allows enough time for check-in, security screening, and immigration, as well as a relaxed walk to your gate.

Most Chengdu–Colombo passengers connect within the same terminal or adjacent terminals at Singapore Changi Airport. Clear transfer signage, information counters, and shuttle services make connections straightforward. Always check your boarding gate and boarding time on the airport screens and give yourself time to enjoy the terminal facilities.

If your layover is long enough and you meet Singapore’s entry requirements, you may choose to clear immigration and explore the city. Before doing so, consider your connection time, security checks on return, and any visa or entry conditions. Always return to the airport well ahead of your next boarding time.
