Get acquainted with Ms Jeannie Cho Lee; the first Asian to be awarded the illustrious Master of Wine title in 2008, Mr Michael Hill Smith; the first Australian to pass the rigorous Master of Wine examination and awarded the prestigious Order of Australia in recognition of his contribution to the Australian wine industry and Mr Oz Clarke; one of the most recognised wine critics in the UK and an esteemed Officier de l’Ordre du Mérite Agricole by recognition of the French government in 2010, and the first Australian to become a Master of Wine.

About the Wine Consultants

Ms Jeannie Cho Lee, Mr Michael Hill-Smith and Mr Oz Clarke currently make up the SIA panel of wine consultants. They are tasked with the selection of all wines served on Singapore Airlines and the development of the Airlines’ staff training programme in wine appreciation.

Jeannie Cho Lee

The first Asian to be awarded Master of Wine, Jeannie is a wine critic, judge, educator and award-winning author of Asian Palate. Her book won the Gourmand Award for Best Food and Wine Pairing Book in the World.
 
In 2009, Jeannie was awarded the Vinitaly International Award for her contributions to the wine industry. Jeannie holds a Master’s degree from Harvard University and a Certificat de Cuisine from Cordon Bleu. She’s also trained as a Master Sake Sommelier at Japan’s Sake Service Institute.
Michael Hill Smith

Michael Hill Smith

Mr Michael Hill Smith is a wine consultant, wine judge, writer and commentator. In 1988, he was the first Australian to pass the rigorous Master of Wine examination and won the Madame Bollinger Tasting Medal that same year. He established the highly rated Shaw + Smith winery with Martin Shaw in Adelaide Hills in 1989.
 
As the current Australian Regional Chairman for the Decanter World Wine Awards, Michael has extensive tasting experience in numerous international and Australian wine shows. Michael received his education in Roseworthy Agricultural College and holds an Advanced Diploma from the London Cordon Bleu School. In 2008, he was awarded the prestigious Order of Australia in recognition of his contribution to the Australian wine industry.
Oz Clarke

Oz Clarke

Oz Clarke is a prolific writer who has received all the major wine writing accolades in the UK and US, including the Glenfiddich, Wine Guild and Lanson awards. He has authored many books on wine – including ‘Bordeaux’, which won the Louis Roederer International Wine Book of the Year award and ‘Grapes & Wines’. His most recent books are "Oz Clarke on Wine: Your Global Wine Companion" and "English Wine". Oz also hosts several popular television and radio programmes, in addition to being co-chairman of the International Wine Challenge. In 2010, he was awarded the esteemed Officer of the Order of Agricultural Merit by the French government.

Singapore Airlines (“SIA”) is pleased to offer eligible Singapore Airlines PPS Club members and one (1) guest of their choosing (each, a “Participant”) an opportunity to join A Wine Appreciation Evening with SIA Wine Consultants (the “Experience”) on the terms and conditions herein. The Experience is subject to a redemption of 10,000 KrisFlyer miles for Singapore Airlines PPS Club members, and a redemption of 12,000 KrisFlyer miles for non-members of Singapore Airlines PPS Club.

  1. The details and specific terms and conditions of the Experience are as follows:

3 hours (Registration starts at 6:30pm)

Number of participants:

The number of participants for the Experience is subject to the maximum capacity of the venue, save that such number shall always be subject to any capacity requirements prescribed by the prevailing safe management measures (“SMM”) as communicated by the relevant authorities in Singapore.

The Experience Details:

Participants will enjoy a 4-course dinner reception with specially curated champagne/wine pairings with Singapore Airlines Wine Consultants; Jeannie Cho Lee, Michael Hill-Smith and Oz Clarke.
 
  1. Singapore Airlines PPS Club members who wish to participate in the Experience are invited to indicate their interest via this link.
  2. To be eligible for the Experience, a Singapore Airlines PPS Club member must fulfil the following criteria:
    1. Be a direct recipient of the electronic mailer sent by SIA titled "SIA PPS Club presents A Wine Appreciation Evening with Singapore Airlines Wine Consultants".
    2. Have a balance of at least the applicable KrisFlyer miles in his/her KrisFlyer membership account at the time of booking.
    3. Be at least 18 years of age as of the date of the Experience. Furthermore, his/her guest must also be at least 18 years of age as of the date of the Experience.

    The Experience is non-transferrable.
  3. Registrations for the Experience will be on a first-come, first-served basis and will be closed one week prior to the date of the Experience, or when it is fully subscribed, whichever is earlier.
  4. Successfully registered Singapore Airlines PPS Club members (“Participants”) will receive a confirmation email upon successful deduction of applicable KrisFlyer miles. In the event of a cancellation or no show after confirmation has been sent, no refund or recharge of redeemed KrisFlyer miles will be provided.
  5. Participants agree to comply and adhere to all relevant requirements pursuant to any prevailing and applicable SMM as may be communicated by the relevant authorities and/or SIA when attending the Experience.
  6. In the event a Participant that has registered for the Experience is unable to attend the Experience due to testing positive for COVID-19, such Participant shall not attend the Experience and SIA is not obliged to reschedule the Experience for the benefit of such Participant.
  7. While SIA shall take the necessary steps and precautions in accordance with prevailing SMM, Participants of the Experience acknowledge that they are attending the Experience at their own risk. SIA is not liable to the Participants in case any of the Participants test positive for COVID-19 following the Experience.
  8. SIA is not liable to the Participants for any loss, damage, death, injury, disability and any loss or damage to property or person from any cause in connection with the Experience and related activities.
  9. In the event that the Experience cannot proceed at the specified date due to circumstances arising from or related to COVID-19, SIA reserves the right to reschedule the Experience to a later date.
  10. Unless otherwise specified, SIA will not be responsible for and will not bear any and all expenses and ancillary costs which may be incurred by PPS Club member(s) and/or Participants in connection with the Experience.
  11. SIA will not be liable or responsible for any separate experiences and/or promotions, including any disputes that may arise in relation to the same that may be offered by Capella during the Experience.
  12. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the eligible PPS Club member and/or Participants agree to indemnify and hold harmless SIA, its affiliates, subsidiaries, and all of its respective directors, employees, servants, agents and contractors (the "Indemnified Parties") from and against all actions, claims, demands, losses, damages, costs and expenses of whatever nature arising out of, in connection with, or due to the Participants’ participation in the Experience, the use of any information or material supplied by the Participants to the Indemnified Parties, the Participants’ withdrawal from the Experience for any reasons, or any act or omission of the Participants.
  13. Conditions of use for the website, Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and PPS Club/KrisFlyer terms and conditions shall apply.
  14. SIA may capture photographs, audio, video, and other recordings ("Recordings") of the Participants in the course of the Experience. By registering for and/or participating in the Experience, eligible PPS Club members and/or Participants consent to the collection, use, disclosure, and other processing (collectively, "Process" or "Processing") of such Recordings for commercial and/or publicity purposes across all media, including but not limited to, SIA's publications, and websites. Eligible Members and/or Participants may object to Processing of Recordings of them by contacting PPS Club Events team at PPSClub_Events@singaporeair.com.sg  or informing a member of SIA’s staff at the Experience. Such consent by eligible PPS Club members and/or Participants also constitutes agreement that the Recordings in their original or edited format may be Processed as described above without further notification, remuneration or compensation, and that copyright and all other intellectual property rights in and to all Recordings shall vest solely and absolutely in SIA.
  15. By registering for and/or participating in the Experience, eligible PPS Club members and/or the Participants consent that SIA may Process their personal data for the purposes of the Experience as detailed in these terms and conditions and in accordance with the SIA Privacy Policy.
  16. SIA reserves the right to vary these terms and conditions or terminate the Experience without prior notice.
  17. In the event of any inconsistency between these terms and conditions and any brochures, marketing or promotional materials relating to the Experience, these terms and conditions shall prevail to the extent of such inconsistency.
  18. A person who is not a party to these terms and conditions has no right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 2001 to enforce any of these terms and conditions.
  19. These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Singapore and shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore courts.
