For flights between Istanbul and Penang, our weight-concept baggage policy applies. For checked baggage, Economy Class passengers have 25kg on Lite and Value fares, and 30kg on Standard and Flexi fares. Premium Economy Class passengers have 35kg, and Business Class passengers have 40kg. Each checked bag must not exceed 32kg. For cabin baggage, Economy Class and Premium Economy Class passengers may bring 1 piece up to 7kg, while Business Class passengers may bring 2 pieces, each up to 7kg. Your exact allowance is shown on your e-ticket, and KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members enjoy additional allowances.

Wi-Fi is available on board once the aircraft is above 10,000 feet. It is free and unlimited for KrisFlyer members; Economy Class and Premium Economy Class customers should add their membership number to the booking at least 1.5 hours before departure. Paid plans are available for non-members. The connection is suitable for messaging, email, and basic browsing, but does not support video streaming, video calls, or large file transfers.

On the Istanbul to Singapore sector operated by the Airbus A350-900, Economy Class offers a 32-inch seat pitch with up to 19-inch seat width, Premium Economy Class offers a 38-inch seat pitch with up to 20-inch seat width, and Business Class provides a fully flat bed with direct aisle access for every seat. On the Singapore to Penang sector operated by the Boeing 737-8 MAX, Economy Class offers a similar 32-inch pitch with up to 19-inch seat width, and Business Class features a spacious seat that converts into a fully flat bed.

Your eligibility is based on your class of travel or your KrisFlyer and Star Alliance status, and it is determined by your flight leaving Singapore. Other options, like purchasing a day pass at a pay-per-use lounge, are also available.

If you have at least 5.5 to 6 hours between flights, you may consider joining one of Singapore Changi Airport’s official transit tours into the city, which showcase key sights during your connection. For shorter layovers, you can stay airside and enjoy the airport’s themed gardens, rest zones, and family-friendly attractions. There are also shower facilities, transit hotels, and a wide range of dining and shopping options spread across the terminals. Your time at Singapore Changi Airport is more than just a wait — it is an integral part of your journey.

During your layover at Singapore, eligible passengers may be invited to use facilities such as the SilverKris Lounge (First Class), SilverKris Lounge (Business Class), or the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge, depending on cabin class and KrisFlyer or Star Alliance status. Lounge access is determined by your onward flight departure from Singapore and your travel eligibility.

For most itineraries booked on a single Singapore Airlines ticket from Istanbul to Penang, we will check your baggage through to your final destination at Istanbul Airport. You usually do not need to collect your checked baggage at Singapore Changi Airport, but your bag tags and boarding passes will confirm the routing at check-in.

Istanbul operates on Turkey Time (UTC+3) all year. Penang follows Malaysia Time (UTC+8) and does not observe daylight saving time. This means Penang is 5 hours ahead of Istanbul throughout the year.
