For passengers flying on Singapore Airlines and other airlines in the same itinerary
Passengers flying on Singapore Airlines and Scoot on the same ticket may also pre-purchase additional baggage at a discount. Krisflyer members enjoy additional discounts on pre-purchased additional baggage on these itineraries as well. Contact Singapore Airlines to pre-purchase additional baggage.
For flights where multiple carriers are involved (i.e. flights involving SIA and other airlines – either under a codeshare or interline arrangement) besides Scoot, passengers may purchase any additional baggage only upon check-in at the airport of embarkation.
Extremely large items or a large number of items
Some restrictions apply to extremely large items or a large number of items. The item(s) should not exceed 200cm (length) x 75cm (width) x 80cm (height) in dimension or 32kg in weight.
Advance Purchase of Additional Baggage (up to 6 hours before flight departure)
You can pre-purchase additional baggage allowance online up to six hours before your flight departs and enjoy discounted rates of 10 to 25 percent. That way you’ll save money and time for a faster and smoother check-in at the airport.

For additional baggage purchases within six hours to flight departure, full charges are levied upon check-in at the airport. Find out more in the next section.

Advance Purchase of Additional Baggage
If you are holding a ticket issued by (and with all flights operated by) Singapore Airlines, you can purchase additional baggage in advance, up to 6 hours before your flight departs. You will enjoy a discount of 25% off the standard additional baggage rates for purchase made more than 48 hours to departure (called “Pre-Purchase Additional Baggage”), or 10% off standard rates for purchases made within 48 hours and up to 6 hours before departure (called “Last-Minute Additional Baggage”, which can be done even after you’ve completed your online check-in).
For itineraries that do not involve North, Central, or South America, please note that:
- You can only purchase additional baggage of up to a maximum of 30kg per flight if you are travelling to or from Yangon. For any other itinerary, you can make advance purchase of additional baggage up to a maximum of 100kg per flight.
- The purchase of Pre-Purchase Additional Baggage and Last-Minute Additional Baggage shall be in blocks of 5kg.
For itineraries involving North, Central, or South America, you can pre-purchase any combination of the following:
- Up to two additional baggage pieces in addition to the number of pieces allowed for free;
- Additional 9kg for each piece of baggage within the free baggage allowance that exceeds the weight limit in the class of travel; or;
- Oversize baggage for each piece of baggage within the free baggage allowance where the sum of the length, weight and height of each baggage exceeds 158cm.
Pre-paid and discounted rates will not be available for pets carriage.

Purchase of Additional Baggage (within 6 hours to flight departure)
For additional baggage purchases within six hours to flight departure, the following charges will be levied upon check-in at the airport.

Additional baggage charges are assessed each time you check in. For example, if your journey takes you from Jakarta to Singapore to Tokyo to Los Angeles, you’ll be charged for:
- Three flight segments if you check in separately in Jakarta, Singapore and Tokyo
- Two flight segments if you check in separately in Jakarta and Singapore, or Jakarta and Tokyo
- One flight segment if you check in at Jakarta through to Los Angeles
The same weight and baggage size limitations apply to additional baggage as they do to free checked baggage.
In line with local Occupational Health and Safety rules, we are unable to accept any item above 32kg as checked baggage and these items may have to be re-packed.
For itineraries which do not involve North, Central and South America, please note that:
- You can only purchase additional baggage of up to a maximum of 30kg per flight if you are travelling to or from Yangon. For any other itinerary, you can pre-purchase additional baggage up to a maximum of 100kg per flight
