Best time to visit Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka has a tropical climate shaped by two monsoon patterns, so different regions shine at different times of year. The drier months for the west and south coasts, and much of the hill country, are December to March (peak season), when daytime temperatures in Colombo and Galle average around 27–30°C (81–86°F). The shoulder season from April to June and again in October to early November brings warmer conditions and scattered showers, with temperatures typically 28–31°C (82–88°F) along the coasts and slightly cooler in the highlands. The low season on the west and south coasts is usually May to September, when the south-west monsoon can bring heavier rain and choppier seas, though the east coast around Trincomalee and Batticaloa is often dry and sunny, with temperatures of about 28–32°C (82–90°F).
