Beverage Service
Throughout your journey, you can enjoy a selection of hot and cold beverages, including juices, soft drinks, tea, and coffee. Our signature Singapore Sling is also available on board. Please note that no meal service is provided for Economy Class passengers on the Singapore–Penang segment due to the short flight time.

For flights between Kathmandu and Penang, our baggage policy follows the weight concept. In Economy Class, the checked baggage allowance is 25kg on Lite and Value fares, and 30kg on Standard and Flexi fares. In Business Class, you can check in up to 40kg of baggage. Each checked bag must not exceed 32kg.

For cabin baggage, Economy Class passengers may bring 1 piece up to 7kg, while Business Class passengers may bring 2 pieces, each up to 7kg. The exact allowance for your trip is shown on your e-ticket, and KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members enjoy additional allowances.

Wi-Fi is available on Singapore Airlines flights from Kathmandu to Penang once the aircraft is above 10,000 feet. KrisFlyer members enjoy free and unlimited Wi-Fi, and Economy Class members must add their membership number to the booking at least 1.5 hours before departure. Non-members can choose from paid plans. The connection is suited to messaging, email, and basic browsing, but does not support video streaming, video calls, or large file transfers.

On both the Kathmandu–Singapore and Singapore–Penang sectors, Economy Class seats offer a 32-inch pitch with up to 19-inch seat width, providing comfortable legroom for the journey. Business Class offers a fully flat bed configuration with every seat providing direct aisle access, allowing you to rest or work with ample personal space throughout the trip.

Yes, Singapore Airlines provides lounge access to eligible passengers with a layover in Singapore. You may be able to relax at facilities such as the SilverKris Lounge (First Class), SilverKris Lounge (Business Class), or the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge, depending on your eligibility. Your eligibility is based on your class of travel or your KrisFlyer and Star Alliance status, and it is determined by your flight leaving Singapore. Other options, like purchasing a day pass at a pay-per-use lounge, are also available.

Lounge Access Eligibility
Cabin Class: Complimentary for Suites, First, and Business Class passengers. Premium Economy and Economy travellers do not have access unless they hold eligible status.

Frequent Flyer Status: PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Gold (or Star Alliance Gold) members have access regardless of cabin class.

The 'Next Segment' Rule: Eligibility is based on the flight immediately departing that airport. For example, if you fly Economy from Kathmandu but have a Business Class onward flight from Singapore, you get lounge access in Singapore only.

Singapore Changi Airport offers many ways to spend your layover comfortably, from indoor gardens and themed rest areas to quiet zones for relaxation. With a longer connection of at least 5.5 hours, you can also consider joining one of the official free transit tours that briefly showcase Singapore’s highlights.

For shorter layovers, you may prefer to stay airside and enjoy the airport’s attractions, including walking trails, viewing galleries, and family-friendly play areas. Airport hotels and rest lounges are available if you want a nap or a shower between flights.

Kathmandu operates on Nepal Time (UTC+5:45) all year round, with no daylight saving time. Penang follows Malaysia Time (UTC+8:00), also without daylight saving. Penang is therefore 2 hours 15 minutes ahead of Kathmandu throughout the year, so when it is 10.00am in Kathmandu, it is 12.15pm in Penang.

Yes, your baggage will typically be checked through to Penang when flying from Kathmandu via Singapore on a single booking with Singapore Airlines.

Through-Check Conditions
For your bags to be sent directly to your final destination, the following general conditions must be met:

Single Itinerary: Both flight segments (Kathmandu–Singapore and Singapore–Penang) must be under the same booking reference or PNR.

Layover Duration: Your connection in Singapore must be less than 24 hours. If your layover exceeds 24 hours, it is considered a stopover, and you will typically be required to collect your luggage and re-check it for your onward flight.

Partner Airlines: If your onward flight from Singapore to Penang is operated by a partner airline, Singapore Airlines has through-check agreements that usually allow your bags to be tagged to your final destination.
