Eligible customers in our premium cabins can take advantage of Book the Cook on the long-haul sectors, pre-selecting main courses from an expanded menu before departure. This allows you to secure a dish that best suits your tastes and travel time.

Beverage Service
Throughout the journey, you can enjoy a selection of hot and cold drinks, including juices, soft drinks, tea, and coffee, as well as alcoholic beverages where offered. Our signature Singapore Sling is available on board to all cabins on this route.

For flights between Melbourne and Istanbul, the weight concept applies. In Economy Class, checked baggage allowances are 25kg on Lite and Value fares, and 30kg on Standard and Flexi fares. Premium Economy Class includes 35kg, Business Class 40kg, and Suites or First Class 50kg. Each checked bag must not exceed 32kg. For cabin baggage, Economy Class and Premium Economy Class customers may bring 1 piece up to 7kg, while Suites, First Class, and Business Class customers may bring 2 pieces, each up to 7kg. Your final allowance is shown on your e-ticket, and KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members enjoy additional allowances.

Wi-Fi is available on Singapore Airlines services between Melbourne, Singapore, and Istanbul once the aircraft is above 10,000 feet. It is free and unlimited for KrisFlyer members; Economy Class and Premium Economy Class members should add their membership number to the booking at least 1.5 hours before departure. Non-members can purchase a plan on board. The connection is suitable for messaging, email, and basic browsing, but it does not support video streaming, video calls, or large file transfers.

On both Melbourne–Singapore and Singapore–Istanbul sectors, Economy Class seats offer a 32-inch pitch with up to 19-inch seat width, and Premium Economy Class offers a 38-inch pitch with up to 20-inch seat width. Your eligibility is based on your class of travel or your KrisFlyer and Star Alliance status, and it is determined by your flight leaving Singapore. Other options, like purchasing a day pass at a pay-per-use lounge, are also available.

Cabin Class: Complimentary for Suites, First, and Business Class passengers. Premium Economy and Economy travellers do not have access unless they hold eligible status.

Frequent Flyer Status: PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Gold (or Star Alliance Gold) members have access regardless of cabin class.

The 'Next Segment' Rule: Eligibility is based on the flight immediately departing that airport. For example, if you fly Economy from Melbourne but have a Business Class onward flight from Singapore, you get lounge access in Singapore only.

If you have a longer layover at Singapore Changi Airport, you can consider joining the airport’s official free city tour programme, which typically requires a minimum transit time of around 5.5 to 6 hours and lets you see highlights of the city without arranging your own transport. For shorter layovers, staying airside is very comfortable, with themed gardens, quiet rest zones, art installations, and entertainment areas across the terminals. You can also relax in airport hotels, make use of shower facilities, or simply explore the dining and shopping options between your Melbourne and Istanbul flights. Through-Check Conditions
For your bags to be sent directly to your final destination, the following general conditions must be met:

Single Itinerary: Both flight segments (Melbourne–Singapore and Singapore–Istanbul) must be under the same booking reference or PNR.

Layover Duration: Your connection in Singapore must be less than 24 hours. If your layover exceeds 24 hours, it is considered a stopover, and you will typically be required to collect your luggage and re-check it for your onward flight.

Partner Airlines: If your onward flight from Singapore to Istanbul is operated by a partner airline, Singapore Airlines has through-check agreements that usually allow your bags to be tagged to your final destination.
