Carrying physical currency and bearer-negotiable instruments into Singapore

If you’re entering Singapore on or after 13 May 2024, 0000 hours, with physical currency or bearer negotiable instruments (CBNI) exceeding SGD20,000 or its foreign currency equivalent, you are required to submit a completed NP727 form online within 72 hours before your arrival in Singapore (i.e. before immigration checkpoint) via any of the following options:

  • e-727 e-service; or
  • MyICA Mobile Application – Download the official app for free from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android); or
  • After completing your Singapore Arrival Card (SGAC), under “Submit Cash (CBNI) Declaration”.

Duty-free restrictions

If you are departing from or transiting in Singapore:

  • Liquids, aerosols and gels purchased from duty-free shops, located after the security screening point at Changi Airport, are allowed on board.
  • These items must be packed in a transparent, sealed plastic bag, which includes the original receipt(s).
  • If you are transiting in Singapore, duty-free purchases made during an earlier sector of your journey must be packed in a transparent, sealed plastic bag, which includes the original receipt(s).
  • If you are flying to Australia, the US, or any EU country, duty-free liquids, aerosols and gels are allowed provided they are purchased on board your flight or delivered by Changi Airport’s duty-free personnel to the gate-hold room in a sealed security-tamper evident bag which includes the original receipt(s).
  • If you are transiting in Singapore on your way to Australia or any EU country, you cannot carry duty-free items purchased during an earlier sector of your journey.
  • If you are transiting in Singapore on your way to the US, you will only be allowed to carry duty-free liquids, aerosols and gels if they originated from the following destinations – Australia, Canada, EU member states, the United Kingdom, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong. Items must be in a sealed security-tamper evident bag which includes the original receipt(s).
  • Items that are not permitted will be disposed at the boarding gate.
