Singapore Airlines embarks on its next chapter

Singapore Airlines proudly celebrates 50 years of service to Korea. Since our inaugural flight from Gimpo International Airport on 19 August 1975, we have served as a cultural and economic bridge, connecting Korea with Singapore and the world.

Over the decades, we have steadily expanded our network and frequencies. Today, we operate 28 weekly flights on the Incheon–Singapore route and four weekly flights on the Busan–Singapore route. Across the Singapore Airlines Group, our network spans 125 cities in 37 countries. In response to growing demand, the Busan–Singapore service will become daily from 25 January 2026, further enhancing access for southeastern Korea, including Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongsangnam‑do.

On 19 August, we launched the Gimpo–Singapore service with a Boeing 707, via Taipei, Hong Kong, and Bangkok.

1984

Introduced nonstop Seoul–Singapore flights, strengthening exchange and cooperation between Korea and Singapore.

1995

Began daily Seoul–Singapore services and introduced KrisWorld, a cutting‑edge in‑flight entertainment system, across all cabins.

1998

Formed the International Culinary Panel (ICP) of world‑renowned chefs and launched 'Book The Cook', a premium pre‑order dining service.

2012

Increased Seoul–Singapore frequency to four daily flights, providing easier access to our global network.

2017

Collaborated with Michelin-starred Korean chef Yim Jung Sik to introduce exclusive Korean menus such as braised codfish and sesame oil bibimbap.

Launched KrisPay—the industry’s first blockchain‑powered program and the precursor to the Kris+ lifestyle rewards app.

2019

Deployed Airbus A350‑900 and Boeing 787‑10 aircraft on Seoul routes. Commenced regular Busan–Singapore services and opened the new SilverKris Lounge at Incheon International Airport.

Became the first full‑service carrier to offer unlimited free in‑flight Wi‑Fi for all passengers across all cabins.

This year, Singapore Airlines celebrates 50 years of service in Korea, having commenced operations in 1975. Over that time, the airline has established itself as a leading global premium carrier, serving 125 cities in 37 countries across the world, driven by product leadership, service innovation, network expansion, and sustained investment. Looking ahead, Singapore Airlines remains committed to delivering world-class air travel experiences to its customers in Korea.

A Tailored In-flight Experience

Singapore Airlines offers a range of tailored services for Korean customers. Its KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system features around 1,900 options, with more than 10 new Korean films and dramas added each month, as well as a wide array of K‑culture content. The airline also regularly curates Korean in-flight menus, so customers can enjoy dishes such as tangpyeongchae, braised beef short ribs, kimchi fried rice, and japchae rice onboard. To ensure a comfortable travel experience, every flight departing Korea is staffed with at least two to three Korean cabin crew members.

Special Korean Cuisine Menus In-flight

From October to November 2025, passengers can enjoy our special 50th anniversary Korean menus. Business Class will feature a traditional multi‑course Korean meal, while Economy Class will offer dishes such as burdock bulgogi and assorted Korean pancakes.

Since 2012, Singapore Airlines has partnered with Jongno Welfare Centre for the Disabled to deliver cultural, experiential, and donation programs for underprivileged and disabled children, sharing compassion and strengthening ties with the local community.
