For flights between Shanghai and Medan, the weight concept applies. Checked baggage: Economy Class guests may check 25kg on Lite and Value fares, and 30kg on Standard and Flexi fares. Premium Economy Class guests may check 35kg, Business Class 40kg, and First Class 50kg. Each checked bag must not exceed 32kg.

For cabin baggage, Economy Class and Premium Economy Class guests may bring 1 piece up to 7kg, while First Class and Business Class guests may bring 2 pieces, each up to 7kg. Your exact allowance is shown on your e-ticket, and KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members enjoy additional allowances.

Wi-Fi is available on Singapore Airlines flights on this route once the aircraft is above 10,000 feet. It is free and unlimited for KrisFlyer members; Economy Class and Premium Economy Class members should add their membership number to the booking at least 1.5 hours before departure. Non-members can purchase access plans. The connection is designed for messaging, email, and basic browsing, and does not support video streaming, video calls, or large file transfers.

Your eligibility is based on your class of travel or your KrisFlyer and Star Alliance status, and it is determined by your flight leaving Singapore. With a layover at Singapore Changi Airport, you can enjoy one of the most comfortable transit experiences in the world. For longer layovers, you may join an official transit tour into the city, which typically requires at least 5.5 to 6 hours between flights. For shorter connections, stay airside to explore themed gardens, quiet rest zones, and children’s play areas.

At Shanghai Pudong International Airport, eligible Singapore Airlines passengers can access selected lounges, such as those operated by partner airlines. Access depends on your cabin class and frequent flyer status, and is confirmed at check-in or on your boarding pass.

For most itineraries from Shanghai to Medan on a single Singapore Airlines ticket, we check your baggage through to Medan at Shanghai Pudong International Airport. You usually do not need to collect it in Singapore. Your baggage tags and boarding passes issued at check-in will confirm your transfer arrangements.

On arrival at Medan Kualanamu International Airport, you will go through immigration and collect your checked baggage before customs. The terminal has basic facilities such as information counters, transport options into the city, and food and beverage outlets. Allow extra time if you are connecting to domestic flights.

We recommend arriving at Shanghai Pudong International Airport at least 3 hours before your scheduled departure time. This allows enough time for check-in, security checks, and immigration before boarding your flight to Singapore and onward to Medan.

Follow the transfer signs on arrival in Singapore and check the flight information screens for your Medan departure gate. You usually do not need to clear immigration if your bags are checked through. Keep your boarding passes handy, and allow time to enjoy the airport while staying aware of boarding announcements.
